Default How do I limit my shotgun box magazine to 2 rounds for hunting

So I have a Norinco M1000 semi-auto 12g 2 3/4 shotgun with detachable box mags and I'd like to modify the mags so my gf can use it to legally hunt waterfowl and Game birds with me.

Didn't find anything useful on the Internet, have any of you ever done this or seen this done on shotgun mags?

I know it's not a great gun but it's light recoiling, inexpensive and operates very well so any helpful advice is appreciated.

You should be able to pull the baseplate off and stick a wooden block in there to limit capacity for hunting season.

Drill a hole and pin it. Pull pin afterwards . 1/8" roll pin will work just fine. Load 2 shells in and mark than remove shells and drill hole.

Except if he gets checked, the officer will try and load more into the magazine, and if he can, charges will result. The regulation limits how many rounds the firearm can hold, not how many the hunter chooses to load.

I don't think I can pin it like a handgun mag as the fit is very tight with very little clearance between the mag and the gun. Unlike my Glock mags which are pinned this way. I'll try the wood block method and hope it doesn't interfere with the springs.

Fun fact. F and w stopped me last year coming back from deer hunting and would have charged me because I had a game bird licence and the shotgun in the truck. I hadn't even killed anything. That didn't matter apparently. Luckily he eventually believed me (which was the truth btw) about just purchasing the gun 2 days prior and was out just testing to see if the action cycled reliably shooting at a hill. He said the only reason he let me go was because I had empty target load shells in the box and not hunting loads.

Here's hoping the wood block works.

They do not hold moisture so less chance to rust. My shotguns came with plugs as well.

Its fed from a box magazine not a tube magazine.

Well half an hour in the garage and I have custom made 2 wood blocks that fit will and don't impede the springs. Hopefully the last in the field. If not I may have to try something else.

Necessity is the mother of invention.
When I bought my uncles savage 12g last year he had it plugged for ducks.
This spring I took the gun out trap shooting, went to take out the plug and found a whittled stick with a spent .308 shell as the plug!

I am not sure how they could charge with anything. Does anyone know if the CO was legit on this one? What if the guy did not have a game bird license?
