Default Rebuilding after the fire

I would have hated to derail 07's thread about his new home. So I thought I would post it up here. I will try and keep it somewhat updated and you guys can see the pics as it goes along.

Insurance is taken care of (Both contents and building) It was a bit of a haul, but worth the extra attention in the end.

We are schedueld to start digging on May the 3rd. I am hoping we can be moved in by X-mas.

Now I wouldnt mind posting up the plans, and I have them in a PDF format. BUT I have no clue on how to post them. If someone would be so kind to help, it would be appreciated.

Please feel free to comment on the plans. Any feed back is wanted.

I noticed that the "Pot Filler" came up on 07's thread. I have been kind of pushing for one as well.

Thanks
Jamie

one of the things in the kitchen we did was to have drawers for the pots and mixing bowls instead of shelves, makes everything very accessable front to back in the same amount of space. And i really like the island with the overhang for eating as welll ! The more time with the details the better off you will be, we missed a few things, pain to change them now ! enjoy !

It's there. I really like that idea.

Another thing we are doing is putting in a Blank cabinet in the Island. When the price of these Drawer type Microwaves comes out of the sky, we will have one installed. Just because the door opens a bit different doesn't give the big Microwave companies the right to charge over $1,000 for these machines. I know the price will come down and we do want one, but it will have to wait for a year or so.

Crazy, I think you are going to like these plans. You seem to have the same ideas we do. But perhaps I can learn another trick or 2..
Just have to get them posted up is all.

Jamie

on of the issues we had was with the HVAC duct work in the basement, we weren't specific enough and he took some short cuts, now rerouting them is a pain. I also wish i had looked a bit closer at the location of a few of the light switches, two ended up behind doors We also spent some extra to get a really nice marble counter top , so worth it in the end ! If you have room, a pantry was also a great addition !

one of the smartest ladies i have seen but in two dishwashers. Now the everyday dishes never go into a cupboard they just go from dishwasher to the table back to a dishwasher.

Castors...
Hell man I would have to put it on train tracks.

Great thought though in a smaller sized kitchen. I have seen way to many kitchens killed by a Island in a area that will not allow for it.

Because I thought it was funny....after looking at the floor plans I commented to Jamie..." that's not an island in your kitchen..It's a CONTINENT "

I kill me

Nuthin' like urban plate techtonics, eh?

Kannon, now that I know the dig date, and keeping with the new Canadian hockey tradition of planting a Loonie in the ice.............

Jamie, there just may happen to be a piece of our province's TRUE hockey team's memorbelia involved with your build. Something like a Dave Semenko rookie card under your basement floor. That'll bring ya good luck for sure!!!!!!

No problem...here are the plans for anyone that wants to d/l them.

Just going over the plans....my only suggestion would be to have the steam generator somewhere other than inside the shower (under the bench). Even mounted somewhere in the garage would be better. Reason being, to have it inside the shower, you then have to have a wood framed bench...just asking for problems if you ever have a water leak. Having the generator located elsewhere enables you to have the bench made out of concrete and cinderblock, where it will never rot. Also consider putting in-floor heating in the rest of the ensuite floor, if you haven't already done so. And whatever you do..MAKE SURE you get a tileguy that knows his stuff about steam showers. Failure rate of steam rooms are huge because of the many installers that are not familiar with how to do them properly.

Here, this might be easier and a little more direct for everyone:

Right Click and Save As or just click on to view without saving. Note that not saving may take a while to download the file into your browser as it's a 5.5 MB file.

I put a whole hidden stairway into a project here in Calgary about 6yrs ago. There was a business on the bottom two floors, and the upper floors was the owners residence. He had a secret passage from his home office to his work office, among other little secret areas. Was a lot of fun.

Heidi, if you read this, do NOT let him convince you that using a lawnmower is fun. Also...... do NOT tell Mrs Tree I disclosed this information.
