Had he been carrying a BLM poster, they wouldn't have dared to bother him.

As for those officers, they are lucky that nobody was injured trying to tackle a man wearing sharp blades on his feet, and them slipping and sliding on the ice.

There must be more to this than just skating ?????????? given that there was others skating and he was the only one arrested ???? there were a couple little punks in the background that needed a left hook in the mouth also

He wasn't arrested for skating, he was arrested for not complying when told to disperse.

2020 was a crap show. 2021 is shaping up to be worse. The war on fun has ramped up to full force. Calgary’s finest.

It looks like everyone else left the ice except for him, so they went after him. If he really wanted to make a scene, he should have skated out to the middle and skated around so they couldn't catch him, that would have been quite entertaining. In fact. he likely could have skated across the pond and run away before they got across the pond. As for the female officer, seeing as how she appeared to be on the verge of losing all control in such a harmless situation, I would hate to see her in a real high pressure situation.

That’s embarrassing for the force. If the arresting officers lost their composure and struggled to arrest a skater who basically just stood there, I can’t imagine how those two will react when a gangster pulls out his nine and goes to work. Maybe next time she’ll ask him to take his skates off so those feeble knees attempts to the groin can reach the target.

The skater is going to be in crap up to his eyeballs. They’ll make an example out of him for daring to embarrass those female cops.

Want to see a large portion of society snap and make BLM look like a fart in the wind have RCMP/police continue like this regarding Covid restrictions. There is a lot of people on edge and a portion will feel they have nothing to loose.

They need to smarten up write a ticket and don’t create a physical altercation. Save the tough crap for actual criminals.

He was not complying simple as that. Just because you're stronger than a woman cop and wearing the proper foot gear for the environment doesn't mean you can resist and make them look like fools.

If she asks you to leave, leave.
If she asks you to get on the ground, get on the ground.

She should have tased him.

The guy recording the situation was saying this will be all over the news, well the video might just seal his friend's fate.

Nenshi will see this for sure, then he will decide if he thinks he can gain more votes by making an example of the guy, or by keeping this as quiet as possible. That will determine how this plays out.

Default nice way to lose even more respect for LEOs

So this is the way Covid cops are going to be huh..? This is the kind of crap that turns the public even angrier than before. Who the hell are kids harming by skating and playing outside. Calgary Police Service should be so proud of their finest.
I look forward to the rest of the story, cant see that this can only be over the lockdown.

This situation has happened in red deer already. They all got hefty fines. And I'm sure other places too. Not just calgary. These are the rules. People insist on not following them.

Global News reported that a person called in, stating there were 40 people on the ice. Got called in, 39 people complied and 1 didn't

Ya seems pretty clear to me.

Now you have everyone yelling police brutality, no respect for the police, blah blah blah. These people are the problems. Just do what you're told. Go home. Make yourself a hot chocolate and relax.

Yup , this reminds me of a typical news story where the title is adjusted to fit the
author's agenda .

Look at the video again, past the police, and you will see several people still skating. They haven't stopped despite what is going on across the pond from them.

We are certainly experiencing history with the double standards and plain lack of common sense.. Protest good, kids playing puck on a city rink bad.

This whole thing is getting Stupid. Government run amok and nothing makes sense any more. Common sense is truly dead, we're in panic mode at this stage of the game.

Was they man a violent threat to the public?

Did he get physical with the officer?

It is clear as day who physically escalated the situation. This was an offense that only called for a ticket at the most. Write they ticket and let the guy pay it or waste time fighting it

I have no problem supporting an officer when they are in the right but not going to support one when they are wrong.

This is very similar to other videos where all the "victim" had to do was comply with the leo . End of story . The calgary police force is not the ones that made the rules / bylaws . Fighting them makes good videos but accomplishes nothing .

To everyone bashing the cops , do you want to live in a country where we can all just walk away when questioned by leo ? As crooks are walking away with the stuff they took out of your house ? This guy getting arrested is not a hero, he is a disrespectful punk .

He was asked for his id, he refused and went back skating. That’s why he was arrested.
