Smile It is a very fine trap gun

That gun was the standard against which all the others were measured.

That is about it, as far as what I know, there are people here who may have shot it.

Before steel shot every waterfowl hunter wanted one (I could never afford one) it was built before 1964, a sad date in Winchester history.

I have heard that buying one from an old trap shooter may not be a good idea, but having said that I've never seen one that had been "shot out".

I'm sure others will have much more info. The ones I saw didn't have a vent rib.

I've owned quite few over the years, and like them.
They are heavier than a wingmaster however, and some think that the 870's double action rods help with its smoothness.
The Mm12 barrels however, are indestructable, no doubt about it.
If I was goint to pick one howwevber, I would choose a Wingmaster, ofr several reasons.
the first , it's easier to take apart.
The second, it's easier to tear down.
The third, it's lighter.
The fourth, there are lots of aftermarket parts for it.

That being said , if I ran into a diamond grade Model 12 for a few hundred bucks I'd grab it!

I used one for about twenty years. The only problem with it was that they "slam fire"! If your holding the trigger back when you close the chamber, it fires the new round. Not very safe when your being forgetfull but OK in a close range "fire fight" !

oh, amd one more thing, believe it or not, the M12 has a habit of bustin firing pins!!
The thing is, it will still fire with it broken, because the pin will not fall out.
For take down, push the pin on the end of the madazine, poul the mad tube forward, and twist.
To check if the in is broken, up the action and look at the breach with the barrel pointed down - if you see the pin, it's broken!
That's where the "taking apart" comes in!!
