Not sure What the insult is about, if you think its too much thats ok, but posting somthing as dumb as that just proves what kind of person you are. My self and the others who have sined up obviosly dont mind spending some money on something we enjoy. I guess the couple thousand a year I spend on conservation (WSF, DUCKS) must be a waste to you also. But hey I dont judge Im just passonite about the outdoors and shooting. But in the mean time we will keep our helmets on and try and stay with in the lines while coloring just to make you a happier person. This post is for people who are interested in having some fun and learning something new.

2k probably would not buy the gun, it's a lot cash, but if you add all the costs up it's sort of reasonable.

I have been on IT training courses that are that are measured in thousands per seat (thanks boss). I wonder when I do my "I won the lottery" dreaming I count on 1000$ worth of ammo to learn how to shoot 1000 yards.

A two day class would beat a month on my own.

Default Hmmm.

Theirs a certified sniper instructor out of Calgary who runs course's. For a lot cheaper than $2000. It just takes practice to shoot paper out to a 1000 yards. Shooting animals out at a thousand yards takes a lot more than a gun, course, or skill. Theirs a lot of research one should do on their rifle and ammo before even attempting to make that shot. I can hit paper at a thousand yards, and have dropped yotes over 800 yards. But big game my farthest shot has been under 500 yards. Might be cool to take the course, but if you pull the trigger. Be prepared to walk, and track if you b*tch shoot it. Good luck and have fun. P.s. Find a good spotter first.

Default BOTW Shooting School

Sounds like a great time; dont get me wrong i really enjoy BOTW & those guys do some amazing things & are a wealth of knowledge; looking @ doing a Elk hunt with John Porter soon as a group of us get drawn; This 2K for the weekend is way to much $$$$ & i would hope anyone taking it in would have their own Longrange Calibur gun with their Husk scope, i know i would be taking mine if i went ( why would you want to use someone elses????? But anyways I would love to go but not for 2k , not that i dont spend 10 times that a year in hunting ect. Its just not on my list. you dont need to spend 2k to learn haw to shoot 1000+ yards, For those of you guys that go im sure it will be a awesome weekend!! cheers!

Quite likely the reason they are supplying the equipment and not letting a person use their own is for consistency.
That way they don't have to mess around with different ballistics, rifles that are possible not tuned, bad ammo, scopes that are not set up the way they are instructing, etc.

I'm not talking about your rig , I';ve enever seen it, ut them neither have the people that are putting on the course.

Yours may be a very accurate set up, ( I have several that are), but that is not saying the next guy's is, and even if a rifle is accurate it may not be set up the same with their equipment.

The last thing an instructor wants or needs is to have to deal with a system that they are not familiar with, and the from what I have heard you need to shoot the BTW equipment set up as they are trying to teach it.
believe me, they would not want to they and work their way around a rig and ammo they are not familiar with id they are trying to teach.

This is a course on how to use THEIR equipment , non one else's.

They would not let you for the reasons I am stating.

This way they can get rid of half of what is generally gone over in a long range shooting course - how to set up a rifle properly.
By using their equipment it is easier for them to explain it - that , and they can expound on the virtues of the stuff they are selling.
For those that do not realize this, make no mistake - this whole thing centres around the BOTW package!

I think I'm with Hornaholic on this one. For $2000 they teach you how to shoot their equipment, which would be ok for someone planing on buying their stuff, and if they would offer it to you at a discounted price for taking the coarse. I'd rather spend $2000 on my own equipment. I'm sure a guy can be self taught using the Internet, there is tonnes of info out there. That's just the way I'm looking at it, I'm just to cheap to give $2000 for something I could figure out on my own. It'll take a lot more than a weekend to do it, but at least it will be with my rig, and I'm in no rush. I have a hard enough time counting points past 500yds, if I took the coarse ($2000), not only would I have to spend another $6500 on the rifle and scope, but I'd have to spend another $3k on a spotting scope! My wife would divorce me for sure!

To all that do have the money to go, enjoy the weekend, and post up some pics. I'm sure it'll be a fun weekend.

I can understand why they want you to use their equipment. For one thing it is proven!...

When I do an archery seminar or have been to them the first part of the course usually involves setting a bow up properly for the archer. Archery equipment has to be custom fitted for each archer, and yes the rifle has to be as well but much easier to custom fit a rifle to a shooter (adjustable buttplate and cheekpiece). many times I haave people come to me for archery instruction and then I have to basicly reset up their whole system, cahnge or adjust arrows so they are properly spined and get these basics down before I can actually start teaching proper techniques.

Building a 1000 yard gun is a time consuming process and this way they have a proven sustem so they can focus on teaching a person how to shoot.

I can just see some wannabe sniper bS'r signing up for this course and bringing in an OOH AAAH Savage Tube Gun and factory Winchester Ammo thinking that they are ready to take this course on....

They are helping your success by providing the whole shooting system so that a person in the course has only one thing to blame for not improving their shooting.

The two hardest things to teach redneck men... is how to drive and how to shoot... because they already know it all. The $2000 is probably mostly so that people will shut up and listen to get their money's worth!...and weeds out the blowhards...
