Default Gifted Deer

Hey everyone I’m a non resident from BC and will be hunting with a hunter host. My host has a moose tag and deer tags. Just wondering if he has extra meat if he gets his moose and wants to gift me a doe or a WT buck, what if any permits are required for me transporting it back to BC? I thought when I was looking up the Reg’s for non residents I saw a permit that could be filled out but now I can’t seem to find it. Any help would be appreciated.

Page 30 in the regs under exporting.

Edit: I see it doesn't talk about “gifting” anymore. Basically, the hunter goes to the FW office fills out the permit with who he/she is, tag number(s), weight if the meat, etc. pays $20 plus gst and picks up the approved permit sometime later.

Ok, thanks. Ya that was my issue. I couldn’t find anything under gifted meat. I’m wondering how much later it would be approved if someone’s trying to travel back on a certain date? Anyone with any information?

I did it once years ago. I told them it was a rush as I needed it the same or the next day and they told me to come back in a couple of hours. But better get on it as soon as you can. Also, better call the FW and ask what changed, if anything, haha.

Well, even if you could, don’t do it! Do not move the carcass around at all, just take the meat. Very important!

Thinking back, I now remember how it went down. I read the regs and didn’t find anything in regards to gifting. So I stopped by the FW and asked. I was told that the permit is required, so I would need to provide the animals I am gifting, the year they were harvested (they said they would fill in the tags themselves), the name(s) and address of the person accepting the gift, the address of the place where the meat is going, the weight of the meat from each animal (not the total from all), the hunter’s win number, and $21 in cash (at least used to be the only method of payment where I got the permit). I even included, but didn’t have to, half a dozen or so of bunnies I snared and gave away to avoid any questions if the situation arose, lol.

Edit: here is what the meat portion looks like on the permit (I gave away the left over deer from the previous year and about half of the cow elk I shot that year, along with 3 kg of rabbit, haha):
