Default Guys, ready to confess your sins?

What in the world is going on with Canada? I'd like to have 10 minutes in there, safe spaces would be full

Quote:
University of Regina’s ‘Masculinity Confession Booth’ invites males to ‘come and share your sins’

An anti-violence campaign at the University of Regina has set up a “Masculinity Confession Booth” so passing students can absolve their personal guilt for promoting “hypermasculinity,” an exaggerated view of maleness in which emotion is suppressed until it explodes as anger.

“Come and share your sins so we can begin to discuss how to identify and change our ways,” reads the announcement from Man Up Against Violence, a campaign that aims to promote healthy masculinity, largely by talking about the toxic kind.

Both male and female students may confess their part in the social construction of negative male gender norms, but men are especially encouraged, said Roz Kelsey, a professor of kinesiology and health studies who founded the group as a student-run project in 2014, and now chairs it. Even just talking about what society expects from men can seem “emasculating,” she said.

“Men talking about this will have a whole lot more validity, perceived validity anyway, about the message itself,” she said.
Feel free to read the rest...

God I love this crap. Thanks to the entertainment value of these fellas I've been able to cancel my cable and netflix.

Never did understand why people have always made fun of the U of R...or Regina for that matter.

I would encourage all pranksters to record their "confessions" and post to youtube.

Masculinity manifests itself as anger? After 9 years of marriage I'm just now being told my wife is masculine!?

i didn't vote for Notley or Trudeau, so I have nothing to confess for. Both have caused many people deep emotional disturbance, which may erupt into anger, and it has nothing to do with people's view of maleness.

Those of you who are talking negatively of this, please remember your words the next time you hear of a guy you know committing suicide where nobody saw it coming.

If a man is talking in the forest, and there is no woman there to hear him, is he still wrong?

What does that have to do with the non-existent issue of hyper-masculinity?

Where's the booth for women to confess their sins? And I'm offended that the booths aren't welcoming to the entire gender alphabet.

Seems to me that this exercise is prejudicial.

This is nothing more than an excellent attempt by the anti-violence campaign to gain press coverage. It will explode on the internet. I applaud them for their creativity.

I thought the original article said that women could confess as well. I wonder how many are allowed in a booth at one time

I have heard that confession is good for the soul, but I also know that confession may put one in jail.

Catholics should be offended for the use of a confessional in a publicity stunt.

Good grief. More man-shaming.

Now we are supposed to apologize because our bodies contain testosterone.

Not likely.

Note that the wording specified that it was for women to confess how they help shape men into the horrible beasts that we obviously all are...... It wasn't for them to confess their own shortcomings.

I don't think anyone is being forced to do anything. That said I think it is a dumb idea and adding the Catholicism thing has made it worse. I do not want to be part of a men are to blame for everything agenda. I also do not want to associate with symbolism of a religion that has covered for men that have abused the children of their faith that were trusted to them.

It's rather ironic you used an angry emoticon on your reply.

Now I will use my scared emoticon to show I have feelings other than anger.

Women need to worry about their own issues before they think they have any ground to stand on telling men to feel guilty for being men.

One man. One feminist. Alone in a confessional booth. Sounds like a setup for sexual harassment charges.

Three feminists walk into a bar.

They look at one another and say, "Hooray! We've taken over a male-dominated joke format!"

Scared! Fear?
Fear is often what influences violence or anger.
angry emoticon? Just because I am probably one of those guys with unresolved issues that............aw what the heck, that emoticon is what I feel about the Catholic Church. They have more issues than most men.

Then I better get in my shot asap.

Well at least Islam does not come up with the idea that it's the man's fault. On the contrary many insist that the man does no wrong but it is the woman who stirs up the men to do evil.

In Islam it may be best not to confess or one may have something cut off.

Making sammies is honest work.
