Default question of whitefish fishing

I know most people fish for whitefish using wire worms. Does jigging for pike nearby spook away the whitefish?

Quite the opposite, it often attracts them. They will often smack the jig but fail to get hooked. Have a second rod ready to go with a WW in case a white comes by

If a pike is milling about the white will stay away. But once the pike is gone or hooked and released, the whites come in and seem even more interested. I find this a good number of times just after hooking and released a pike, walleye, or other fish that a white is not too far away and the release seems to peak their interest.

I have caught most of my whitefish aggressively jigging a cast master or other small spoon.
