We were there for 6 hours or so, and caught 12...6 of them were over 12 lbs, with the biggest 4 being 19, 18, 17, and 16lbs respectively. Ridiculous if you think about it lol

You can definitely head all the way to Fort Chip on the winter road. Not sure about Richardson, but I've heard from a guy who lived up there that there are monster pike and walleye in there...but haven't had the chance to check it out myself. As for crossing the Athabasca, I've seen videos of track hoes crossing and working from the ice...I'd make darn sure I knew the depth and ice conditions prior though.
