amazing how they haven't figured out how many five round mags can fit in a jacket pocket and how quick you can change a mag, ain't it?

To be honest, grab your guns if he has them, if you have any prior proof of purchase or registration, let the officers in charge know what you're doing. In this case, it's best to be as transparent as possible to avoid getting thrown in the same boat as your friend or sinking him in deeper.

It can turn a rifle into a prohibited weapon just by switching the clip.

I was just thinking that a fine would be more "civilized", for first offences at least. And yes, I know I'm delusional.

Speaking from personal experience (expired FAC) 6 yr.s ago.
I was ordered to dispose of all of my firearms - long guns, restricted and 12-6 the CFO at the time worked with me on this by suggesting I transfer all but the 12-6 to a friend and transfer them back after I RECEIVED my renewal. The 12-6 were cut with a zip disc and turned into the RCMP seemed that's what they wanted in the first place. But back to the point there is a BIG difference between disposal and surrender but as mentioned check with the NFA they were very helpful to me on this matter

Yeah.

I'm thinking that there's a bit more to it than that.
It does seem a bit much.

Then again to some people any excuse is a good one if it helps achieve a goal so maybe thats all they needed.
