Default Punta Cana

Has anyone gone Ocean fishing in Punta Cana? If so how was it and do you have any recommendations for guides or who to stay away from?

Thanks TEH

I can't tell you who to use but in my experience stay away from the guys the resorts book you with. We went out with one of those guys and it was an absolute waste of a day and a lot of money.

Agreed! Did that myself and it was the worst trip I have been on.

We walked into town n found local guide was 500 us for 8 hours for 7 of us they supplyed beer, water and sandwiches. We caught bunch of tuna was decent we gave nice tip after and well was worth going to town area outside the resort and asking around. Most fish for living so just ask locals

yup same here we inquired about it on the beach hut outside where we were staying and it was expensive like $500 for 3 hours so we didn't do any fishing. the one thing i learned was outside the resorts you can negotiate anything and everything you buy. it was fun to look for something and haggle on the price for it.

I did the 4 hr fishing trip resort guys recommended. 6 people in one boat, we caught 1 marlin. It was beautiful day for boating but slow for fishing according to captain. Cost was 120$. It included transportation to the boat and back, and we had free beer as well. For a first timer it was ok I guess - I had fun despite not catching anything, but some Americans were disappointed that we did not catch more fish.

We went with gone fishing and shared a charterwith. Another older couple. Think it was 150 a head, for 6 hours. We got two big 30-40 lb mahis and lost a wahoo, not a great day but not bad, the one other boat got 8 mahi and a marlin, and the other got skunked, so definately hit and miss..

Was 150ish if i remember correctly for 6 hours, now for that you could have up to 6-8 people, we were lucky and only had two others with us. We were in 12 foot swells so having a decent boat is a good thing.

Went with Gone fishing crew while down in Punta Cana. Had enough guys go that we had a private boat. Only two bites in 6 hours and one small king mackerel landed. One of their other boats caught 2 Mahi-Mahi. Would I do it again you bet.

Fishing was so-so
But the vomiting was amazing-all 4 hours of it

I have spent some time fishing 20 ish miles off Ucluelet in fair sized swells, but I was totally unprepared for the size of the swells off Punta Cana.

First time I have ever been sick at sea. And the last

Yes Omega50 the sea sickness was on our boat, 3 guys chummed, 2 were green and slept most of the trip. So only 2 of us out of 7 were not under the weather. We were 8 to 9 miles out.
