Re: bear
Great job.CONGRATS! I have only been out 3 times helping the bro-in-law set baits out. A friend of mine got a cinnamin the other day...have not seen pics yet.
I was planning on going out with some buudies for the annual trip we make on the long weekend, but missed last year as my wife was near her due date...thought I was going to go this year, but sounds like she has plans for me again - new concrete sidewalks, rip the deck down, reside the house>: :\
Oh well, always next year.

After so many requests I'll ablige with a story:
A buddy was running 4 baits, he had 2 just getting trashed.
So last week he set up a hunt for our old District Manager. They sat the bait on last Saturday, and saw a hog blackie 7 foot plus, but could'nt get an arrow into him. So on to this weekend and I was chosen to be the lucky guy who sat the bait. We toured in and got set by 3:30, I sat about 50 yds from the bait right cross down wind from it. At about 5:45 a real nice 6-1/2 footer strolled in right on the quad trail had a light snack grabbed a big chunk of bait an lit out down into the draw which was to my back side. Then about 1 hour latter our overly friendly 5 footer who was often circling the bait when we checked all week made his appearence coming in on the trail I usually walked into the bait on. The 5 footer hung a good licking on the suspended beaver, and was procceding to give a coffee can full of bacon drippings a going over when I heard a good pop from back in the draw so I kept an eye on the draw, and lo and behold I started seeing flashes of black coming out of the draw at a good walking pace. I was right keyed up to see if the 5 footer would lit out because a week prior he bugged out when "Boss Hog" showed, and sure as it was described to me from the week before as soon as the bear made it out of the draw and crested the ridge the 5 footer lit out and I went into full ready. As the bear made it behind two spruce trees I waited with the scope in the next opening towards the bait, and as soon as the bear entered my site picture I dropped the hammer of Thor on it and watched as it nosed in and twitched a few times.
Got the self climber down out of the tree and went over to discover it was'nt "Boss Hog" but a nice 6foot 3inch dry sow.
Tag gone, and no more available weekends so who's to complain.
