Default Good results and a big boost in confidence.

Long story short.
One year ago with my 7 Rem Mag I couldn't hit a 2'x4' piece of plywood at 550 yards. (Jumped out to that distance way to soon)
It was a bone stock Remington 700 SPS with a Vortex Viper HS 4-16x50 scope.
Shooting factory 140 Nosler Partitions.
(However it did take down a 6x7 Elk)

Today the results were much different. But so is the rifle. (and my attitude)

It has a bedded Bell and Carlson stock, ATRS 20MOA rail and Nightforce rings holding on the same Vortex HS scope. Also installed is a Timney trigger at 2.5lbs.
Most importantly (in my opinion) is the switch handloaded Berger 168 VLDs. Including load development group tests, ladder tests, and seating depth tests.

Here is a pic of todays result from my first 5 shot group. This is at 480 yards during trajectory validation.

Thanks.
It takes a long time when you can't get out as often as you like.
Powder is 68.8 grains of Hodgdon H1000. I chose the extreme series due to the temp stability.
Bullets seated .010 off the lands.

Finally measured the group tonight.

Just for reference the lines on the target have one inch spacing.

Works out to be about a 1.75" group.
