Default 22 savage ammo an 25 rem. ammo??

Does anyone know where I can get 22 savage ammo (maybe 70 gr psp but not necessarily this grain) or 25 Remington ammo? The 22 savage looks like it could be a great varmint gun but I need ammo. Located near Edmonton. Thanks AO for your help.

Default ???????.22

Savage is a manufacturer and .22 is a calibre but Savage makes many .22 calibres for varmints besides .22LR, which one would be a big help here??
70 gr psp makes me think you are looking for a centre fire .22 but is on the heavy side for common varmint bullets.

I am thinking that he is referring to the 22 Savage High Power, which is an actual cartridge designation.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5.6x52mmR

Both the 22 Savage Highpower and the 25 Remington are long out of production,so finding ammunition will be difficult.

There are some loads being advertised at ammo-one,but they are very expensive and you would need to have them imported to Canada. The total cost would be very high.

Default Ammunition to go

Could be but hard to tell from wording. Is it even made by anyone anymore maybe Remington every 5-6 years of production??

found some in US at $22. for 20 but web search shows 1912 cartridge is almost obsolete. Good luck if this is what you are looking for.

Looks like Sellier & Beloit still make??

Actually 22 Savage High Power is still in very common use in Europe where it is called the 5.6mmX52R. You can also still get dies from a number of manufacturers if you wnat to reload. Because of the rim they are a great varmint round in single shot rifles and they are still very common in European drillings of 12 gauge over 22 High Power for combo deer and bird hunts. Tradex here in Canada usually carries a good supply of factory ammo for it.

As to the 25 Remington, no guns have been chambered for that since the 40s. It is a rimless case, and the only parent case I know of is the 30 Rem which is just as hard to come by. You could make cases by turning the Rim down 30-30or 25-35 cases but you would need a lathe.

There are places in the US like Starline, Stars and Stripes and Buffalo, that make new brass and loaded ammo for the 25 Rem. If you really want to use it, you can order some through a place like Prophet River. Dies are still available.

Actually, doing some more checking, after reading the previous post, the 22 Savage Highpower cartridge is no longer loaded in North America, but it is still loaded in Europe by at least a couple of manufacturers including Norma.Based on that,it shouldn't be all that hard to find, but selection will be limited, and the prices may be a little steep.
