Default Let's chat snoring

Curious who all are known snorers?

What have you used?

A friend said this works but reading through reviews hard to sort from the lies and facts. https://puresleep.com/s40/

Snoring is a pain in the butt especially for those around you.

I don't think I ever snored that bad....

But I sure do stop breathing, I'm a sleep apnea guy.

The x used to say to me and I could hear her through my sleepy fog, "Breathe Damn It!"

I expect the "very bad" is relative....

Had a guy on our hockey team that nobody wanted to bunk with, you could clearly hear him snoring in the adjacent hotel room.

Know a guy that snores on his stomach, side, back, even sitting up in a chair. The guy can sleep standing up leaning against a tree and yes he snores doing that too. VERY loudly! Now that is snoring.

Most loud snorers have Apnea. At minimum go to a Sleep study place and get tested. No referral required, just call them up and they will give you a do at home sleep study. If you have Apnea, it needs to be treated as it is very hard on the heart, brain and other body parts. You are effectively suffocating yourself of adequate oxygen over many years. It has a cumulative negative effect.

You should go to your dentist and request a sleep test to see if you may be a candidate for an oral appliance.

These appliance protrude the mandible forward in hopes of opening the airway- hopefully reducing apneaic events and snoring.

Most can be used in conjunction with CPAP machines if needed.

A few appliances to look into:
Somnodent
Tap III
E.M.A
Klearway

There are also a variety of sleep monitors that the patient can now take home so they no longer have to be tested a 'sleep center'

Buddy of mine was the worst at snoring according to the crew that got together for the annual hunting trip. Few years later I took over as champ. Got a c-pap unit little over a year ago, now wife will not let me even doze off without it. Poor woman has suffered enough haha.
I am not super over weight but I'm sure loosing a few LB's would help some. but yeah c-pap works for me, although was hoping I would sleep like I did at 19, and no that's not happening,.

Anyone use an appliance? Not CPAP though. Like the mouth guard type?

I snore sometimes, especially when working long hours...but usually sleep on stomach so not an issue. Losing 20 lbs has pretty much eliminated the issue. If I snore too loud, my wife will pinch my nose shut..she says it's not to kill me, just so she can sleep. We have been married almost 27 years, so I believe her.

Should I consider cancelling the life insurance?

Snore like a freight train. Have been tested and don't have apnea. Sleep on my side and still saw logs. My tests results was that I snore almost 800 times in 7hrs of sleep but with less than 5 interruptions for breathing.

Tried breath rite strips. Sort of work. Asked about a dental appliance but because I have a crown on a front tooth the dentist said it would probably pull it out, so no appliance for this guy.

A colleague who I sometimes room with tells me I snore. Not sure how badly but I always sleep on side or front.

Not to derail , anyone know a good place in Calgary to get earplugs done? Used the Costco ones for years . They worked great for me for shooting , sleeping and work. Now that Costco doesn’t do them I need to replace the old ones and don’t really want to pay 200$ for a fit pair.

I worked in Inuvik with a Hungarian Chef who went to bed in a flannel onesie decorated with little hotdogs and hamburgers all over.
Champion snorer actually took over half an hour to produce snoring sounds. First half hour sounded like a bellows pre-loading his system with air. Had people in the next room pounding on our walls.

Good job Bence

Just started CPAP therapy. Never knew I slept so horribly before. My wife says I have virtually stopped snoring with the machine.

This is true,
Since my divorce I have yet to hear a complaint.
I sleep alone.
The dog snores too and I don’t complain about her and she doesn’t complain about me.

Go to a industrial supply store and get a box of foam plugs without the cords much better then molded as your ear continue to grow and after about 5 years the molded ones with no longer fit.
