Lots of lakes within an hour of Whitehorse. Some of your better bets for; 1) Grayling - Aishihik Lake - there is a water outlet on the far south side of the boat launch - just below the outlet, you will find Grayling up to 16-17 inches. Also, on the road out of Aishihik, you will see Otter falls. In the river from just below the falls, and downstream approx 1.5 km's, there is a small pond. In between the falls and the pond, you can find rainbow trout up to 16 inches (indigineous strain to that area). You can also find Grayling in the Takhini river and the way in to Kusawa Lake. Stop at the Takhini River campground and just down the hill is a pool that holds lots of smaller grayling. 2) Lake Trout - lakers are just about in every lake in that area. The southern lakes are always a good bet - in the early spring - when the ice is still on most lakes, the southern end of Marsh lake is good. Tagish lake (flows into Marsh) is also a good bet. Kusawa is a local favourite - lots of 10-12 pounders. My favourite though for good size lakers accessible by truck - is along the way to Whitehorse - 200km's south on the Aklaska highway - and that is Teslin Lake. Launch at the bridge, fish the mud line on the south side of the outlet (300-400 meters off the launch and in that bay), and you can get into both lakers and Inconnu (tough to find, but they are there). Anyway, some spots to get you started.
