Default Cold Lake fishing report

I'll be heading out one more time this weekend before winterizing the i/o.

Any fishing reports in the last couple of days. My last trip out was 8 in about 3.5 hours a couple weeks ago so I'm hoping it's still productive.

its closed for lake trout retention at this point so they can spawn, so legally you can still fish along catch and release lines, but most would hope you wait til the season reopens after the spawn, ie let the spawning fish do there thing for the good of future fishing without the hassle of fisherman bothering them, my two cents

X2 Maybe a good time to target walleye or pike.

Leave the lakers to their spawning for the future of the fishery.

Would be a blast catching those lakers before ice comes in.
If you need a partner give me a shout.

Lakers will begin staging as the water temp begins to drop pretty soon.

They will not be actively spawning for another 4-6 weeks at the earliest.

They should, however, be left alone to reduce stress.

No different than fishing for pike at the end of March. Should we not ice fish in March when the pike are 4-5 weeks away from spawn? Wouldn't wanna stress them out either. The lakers will be fine. Good luck I was up there last sept fishing was incredible. Still found them down in the depths.

Yeah. I'll probably leave them alone. I mostly catch and release anyway but will keep one during regular season if they take a hook too deep, etc.

I'll probably look for another lake for some rainbows or something. I need a lake with a good launch due to deep V hull.

I love you guys that actually PM'ed me, i've never fished cold lake hahaha. I could have sent you on a wild goose chase, but i'd feel bad, now go fish and experiment. The outdoors rewards those who put in the time and effort. Cant resist the opportunity when people ask for spots

Hahaha. I was wondering if someone was actually going to share their walleye spot on Cold Lake. Most of the guys I know who fish there would rather share naked pictures of their wives before they share their walleye spots.

Was at Cold Lake yesterday, tried to catch some big pike or walleye. Biggest pike 30 inches. Dad hooked a big walleye lost beside the boat... not the best at keeping the tension on. Will post a video when I have a chance to put all the footage together. The pike were taking big swim baits like crazy. Must have had 4 double headers in a row at one point. So many followers. On one cast two large pike followed my swimbait right to the boat. Exciting fishing. Only hooked the one walleye though.
