Default Fishing with the grandkids

We took a few of the grandkids I've fishing this evening and they caught a pile of fish ..7 whites and 21 huge suckers in 2 hrs.. to these kids it didn't matter what it was ..a fish is a fish.
No fancy equipment, a jighead , a stick for a rod , some nightcrawlers and a bobber...priceless.

Took the whitefish home and took the suckers back off the lake on a big snow drift to keep the local eagle happy and away from the pheasants for a day

Do not think that is legal to do . Wasting of eatable meat.
You may not want to eat it but some may .

Suckers are not considered game fish in AB. There is no limit on how many you can catch. Many are illegally introduced. I would leave them for the birds before I would put them back down the hole.

I don't believe that there is any regulatory issue with feeding the suckers to the birds. Nice to see you having fun with your grandchildren!

At Ressor in years past suckers were catch and destroy. There were even tournaments organized to try and clean the lake of them. Great day with the grandkids, thanks for posting!

Only problem I have with leaving suckers behind is you lost out on some great bait. The smiles on those kids is what it's all about

Round 2 with the rest of the grandkids was also a success
4 young men caught their first fish today
.unforgettable .Pike and walleye in this area are on a catch and release basis because of a collapsed fishery so I figure keeping these spawn sucking vacuums out of the water a win win situation .. did keep some for bait for coons tho .

If be eating those suckers, grind them and add a few things and make sucker patties, they are good in buns or without.
