Has anybody been out to Pigeon lately or heard anything on the blue green algae status? I've heard that a good frost kills it and have definitely had to scrape my windshield in the morning a couple times recently. I still have a couple Walleye tags I'd like to fill!

According to research conducted in Alberta, the fillets are safe to eat as the toxin of concern - microcystin - does not accumulate in muscle or fat (belly) tissue. Avoid cooking whole fish as the toxin may accumulate in liver and kidney tissue and heat (cooking) does not break down microcystin.
Cold water water temps will kill most of the blue green algae (this should start now) and the remainder will settle to the lake bottom for winter dormancy.
