Just returned from a week at Carson. I'm not sure why, could be the strange weather the last 2 years, but the fishing has really slowed down. I used to easily catch 4-8 fish per hour but this year there were 3 of us and we caught a grand total of 7 fish in 6 days. Tried all of the above set ups aside from the 5 of diamonds and nothing worked any better than any other. For each 2-3 hour trip out we'd get a few small bites and would be lucky to land 1 small fish. Out of the 7 we did land, only 1 was a decent size. We were also there last August for 2 weeks and although not as slow it was not great fishing then either. Maybe getting winter killed?

There were also a dozen pelicans this year compared to only a few the last couple.

Look at the stocking reports over the last few years. Plus over fishing is your answer.

Last year was fine but can be tricky finding what they want. Can’t go wrong with trolling some leech flies. Just try and get your fly down a bit in the water column.
