Video Gaming Cold Lake Trout (Jigging How To)
I have been getting a lot of messages about lake trout on Cold Lake. So here is a video to help point those guys without downriggers in the right direction. I got to take advantage of a dead calm Cold Lake evening and jig up a few of my favorite fish. Nothing better than watching that fish scream up after your lure and grab it right under the boat and take it straight back to the bottom! For all you who like the sonar cam, this video has one so you can watch them feisty trout chase down my lure.

Great video and very informative. Thanks for sharing your tips for success. Love the sonar cam to see firsthand how you are using the electronics to help you trigger reaction strikes.

Thanks! hopefully it helps a few of the guys who are curious on coming to Cold Lake put a few more fish in the boat and make their trip a more successful one. This reaction bite strategy is one I utilize in the winter as well.

Thanks! Nope unfortunately it has not shown up yet but when it does and I figure it out with the mounts you can count on a trolling video with some underwater strikes! I can't wait to see whats roaming the depths of Cold Lake!

That’s fun. There is where a bait caster works really well.

120 bucks later I got 4 of these beauties and a few other items too....I always say no more but there's always that magic must have lure.....will give them a whirl this wk-end.
One fishing advice I will share.....the key to lake trout fishing is to attempt to eat a samwhich....lake trout hate to see you sitting and eating so they keep both of your hands busy.......

I have a rod waiting to be built for exactly this... Unfortunately I haven't got to it yet as I had to catch up on everyone else first.

42 caught & released saturday but all trolling NK Mag spoons off the downriggers. Got checked by a CO in the evening who said he checked alot of boats that day and few were catching. Guess we gave them what they wanted that day?! My 25 year old original NK's were the hot ticket in colour choices not currently available. White/Flo Red w/silver stripe in the early morning and as the sun got higher and fish suspended deeper black/silver stripe was the hot colour(just as it used to be on the great lakes).

Boys and I picked up 35 jigging. Found fish deep , boys lost a bunch, only one 77cm that went back. Don’t even take the down riggers anymore. Generally get more and bigger fish my way.

Hard to beat the NK Mags some days. Got a whole box full of em' seemed like my go to colors always involve silver/chartreuse or silver/blue

I plan on doing the same next time out. I bought a handful of Staplesbait tubes and some 6" swimbaits to try out. I have three line-counter set ups for jigging/trolling. Trip before I caught one 75cm which I released and one 82cm which I kept and put on the smoker. First and only one I have kept to date since I started fishing the lake 3 seasons ago.
