You messed up your poll, you can either choose yes or no, or your age, not both a choice and age

No no and no and I’m over fifty. What the hell kind of question is this to ask on a gun forum?

And that is a very valid question, are we talking appearance, or function?

Assault rifles or "type" have to be capable of full auto fire which we all know about. So that makes this poll irrelevant...or a troll poll.

In this case it would mean function. If it looks like a Duck and walks and quacks like a Duck, there's a pretty good chance it is a Duck.

I that case, assault rifles are already prohibited in Canada, so the poll is meaningless. Now if you are referring to the the of firearms that were just banned in New Zealand, they were not assault rifles, just semi autos that would function with larger capacity detachable magazines. They only resemble assault rifles in appearance, not function.

It seems I did mess it up some. I don't know much about how they operate,
obviously. I'll try and delete the poll and keep everyone happy.

So where would Rem 700 and Winchester 70 fall into place? Both used as sniper rifles . Should they be banned as well, look the same, especially the early versions which were just hunting rifles converted over.

If a person were to shoot someone with a single shot 22, would that firearm be deemed an assault rifle? Or if you beat someone with a tommygun would that gun not be deemed an assault weapon?
What I’m trying to say is any object would be deemed an assault weapon if it was to commit an assault. Looks don’t make an assault rifle, nor does function. The use of it in an assault does.

The new definition of an assault rifle is MSSA (Military style semi-automatic firearm) any semiauto centerfire rifle or shotgun designed to accept a detachable magazine that holds more than 5 rounds.

You can bet Bill Blair and the media will run with this new designation

EG. The bank was help up by robbers wieding MSSA weapons

Absolutely not. Under 40 by a year. Would never support any type of ban on any type of "weapon". Be it rifle, pistol, knife, or golf club.

I don't have an opinion, so I'm not the one to be asking the "what if's" to.

I thought a simple poll would be interesting to see the overall results and age structure. That's all. Bad Idea !

No.

All of my firearms are black. They look evil. My rifles are all bolt action...but they look evil. They could very easily be taken (mistaken) for "assault style weapons" by the misinformed. The danger in even discussing such a subject, is that (in my case) all of my rifles could be construed as "assault style".

But they're no different than a wooden deer hunting rifle.

Bad thing to discuss on a forum like this.

The most dangerous weapon on earth is a smooth rounded spoon,,, don't kid your self,,, getting spooned is not good. LOL.

I'm un-decided since I don't own any of the above,,, my vote wouldn't count any ways since I'm to busy doing my own thing till the government comes to take my weapons of mass destruction away. Ha

Maybe there will be another poll on this when the time comes,,, it won't really matter since our freedoms are Sloooooowly being taken away 1 peace at a time...

Oh well,,, I'll be long gone or to old to get out of bed when that happens... Enjoy what we have before it all comes to an end.

Off to the hills of good times,,, can't wait to get the ponies out on the trail once the snow is gone. Ye Ha,,, bring on the good times.

👍

Yes but you have rifles mounted in a “chassis” which therefore makes them look tactical and everybody knows those types of rifles should only be in the hands of police and military.
I can’t believe society today is becoming so bloody stupid.

Redo the poll closer to how the CBC and most mainstream media would. Give a "Yes" option and 5 or 7 different ways to say no in fine detail to skew the results to the pollsters pre-determined outcome.

Assault is a verb,not a pronoun.
Baseball bat, knife, bullwhip, sharp stick, rock, and a fist are weapons when used as such.
A firearm is only a weapon when it’s used to assault.Used for hunting it’s a tool.Used for target shooting its sporting goods/sport equipment.
Something as tiny as a virus can be weaponised.
Humans are quite adept at finding new ways to kill one another since the beginning of mankind.
Ban guns, and as we’ve seen several times in recent years, somebody will just run a bus through a crowded street instead.

No gun ban of any kind.

I vote to have all assault type rifles manufactured and cerakoted bright green. After all it’s only the colour that scares everyone, anti’s and un-educated millenials.

I am a millennial

Another option is to paint those weapons of mass destruction pink,,, Olive in my world since its a much more attractive colour. Ha.

Yuppers,,, like the old guy said,,, all objects are just objects until they are used to assault someone or thing,,, other than that they are just objects.

I got to go since its time to assault the West Country,,, LOL. First up is those darn tipped over trees that block my passage. LOL

We call it chain saw hacking to prevent the cup cakes from getting all worked up you know.

Its frightening that on a firearms forum that there are 14 people who support a firearms ban of any kind.
