Very cool. Those are quite the mits! Look like you could carry a little kid in each one

Nice looking ride! No need for handlebar warmers with those mitts.

Back in the early days of sledding there sure were alot of brands.

Some of the ones I remember were John Deere Liquifire, Rupp, Ski Roule, to name a few.

Skidoo of course was the leader, but there sure were alot of sled manufacturers back in the day. Getting parts for some of the less known brands would be a challenge these days!

Good on you for taking the kids for a ride on an old sled. As they get older, they will appreciate just how far we have come!!

Awesome . That was my very first sled , 68 Motoski Capri 292. I had more fun of the machine when I was a kid! Brings back memories seeing those pictures

Beauty Whelen...
Wish I could post pics here but the oldest sled I have is an 87 Super Jag in great shape. It’s always an interesting run on the old narrow machines. Kinda like the hum of bogey wheels on a groomed trail.
Cut my eye teeth way back when on a 12/3 ski do.
Thanks for posting that.

We had a 71 motoski (440) when I was growing up.
I destroyed that one, and a few years later found another at a garage sale (for $150).
The last one got carried off in a scrap metal purge after I moved away from home.
Neither looked as nice as yours.

I absolutely love seeing old sleds still being used. I spent a lot of time on old Elans growing up in Northern Ontario. I remember a trapper had a Sno Bug that would go just about anywhere. Even those old Elans were nice because even though they were never going to win any races, they would go through some serious slop and were light enough to throw around by hand when they did get hung up when going through thick bush.

I grew up running a Snow Crusher (as I called it then) around. They were great until you got them stuck. Then you may as well leave them and come back in spring!

Love it. Learned on an old John Deere 500 (really a 440) then graduated to an Evinrude 400 Skimmer that kicked ass, well back then anyway. I think the JD was bogies and the Evinride was slides but dont really recall.

Great sled, and the mitts! Could sleep in those!

My dad had an old SkiBee in the 70s, hard to start, but when it did, it sure went like hell!

Wish I knew what became of it.

Looked just like the one in this article. You could get a wheel kit for it but dad didnt have one. Cool sled.

Nice to see the old sleds. The Alpine sled was a real workhorse on traplines thru the years. I saw my first snowmobile at Pigeon Lake in 1963. A guy unloaded a brand new 1963 Polaris Sno-Traveler like in the pic. Was pretty neat.

With all the sledders in Alberta there has to be a great assortment of vintage sleds hidden away.

When I see these sleds it reminds me of this tune. The vid has some nice older sleds. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SeBC...ature=emb_logo

That would be appreciated. I hadn't thought about that machine for years. Good memories. Fetching the christmas tree from community pasture with the sled. Freezing our skinny buts off in our snowsuit....
