Default Window mount alternative?

In the last 3 years I've broken 3 drivers side windows on my F150 just by gently attaching my spotting scope to the window using a window mount. It has nothing to do with the mount and everything to do with the glass as it is just brittle and not meant for this purpose on the F150. Prior to owning Ford I never had any problems with this on other vehicles so it begs the question:

What alternatives do I have to this? RAM suction cup mount looks interesting but would need some type of modification. Thanks for any suggestions.

I bought a med weight piece of foam ,the thick white stuff, cut a strip 8 inchs long 4x6 inch's wide. Cut grove at the bottom so it slides down my widow and when I put pressure on the bino's the stay sugg,

i also busted a window on my truck with the mount so I just tried this, not as steady as mount, but fast and no sliding of the bino's. Cost me 5 bucks at foam store for a piece they were more or less throwing away.

not maybe what your looking for,but it works.

Ford keeps bragging about their military grade aluminum, it sounds Iike they need military grade glass.

How tight are you clamping it?
I have the vortex one and it works great on my f350's
To me, I think something must be touching the window that isnt padded

I only ever owned one Ford pickup and I didn't have it long enough to hunt out of it. I had never heard of the windows braking like that. Is there a alternate side window available that isn't OEM Ford? As far as an alternate to the window mount about the only option is to put a pad on the hood and use the tripod type mount. If you aren't glassing for long periods uyou could try a shoulder mount type rig. I have used these with cameras and long lenses. Work pretty good.

I would give the mount a thorough going over looking for a metal protrusion when it is tightened down.

Used a crappy Amazon one for a 6 day hunt in 304 with a Leica 77 on it. No problems.

I would also suggest checking the wind mount you are using.

I use my window mount almost every day, all year long for years and have never heard of one breaking a window. Id check over your mount or get a new one, they shouldnt be breaking your window.

I've used a Bushnell window mount for over 50 years. Never broke a window. But then I've never owned a ford either.
