Default B and H photo video reviews

Has anyone ordered from BH photo video in the states? They have a couple deal on some spotting scopes in looking at and it says they ship to Canada. Any reviews from those that have bought from them or m ow anyone that has.

Default B and H Photo

I ordered a Vortex Viper spotting scope and tripod from them last September and there were absolutely no issues. Prompt shipping and delivery.

Better price with conversion than I could do at Wholesale Sports when they were selling at 10% off.

Couldn't wait and see if Wholesale was going to go significantly lower and the Mgr couldn't deal on the price so went with B and H.

I've dealt with them several times. Always a smooth transaction, with fast shipping.

Bought thousands of dollars worth of camera gear from them and always a pleasure to do business with.

What scopes are you looking at. I usually have no problem beating B&H pricing (McBain Camera). I actually have a few pro clients who now live in NY who still buy from me because I'm cheaper than B&H. particularly on Nikon gear.
We stock Nikon and Swarovski spotting scopes and I can get Leica, Zeiss and Bushnell.
Give me call on Monday at the store (780)428-673 ext 1008 if you'd rather buy local.
One thing to watch out for. Many companies separate Canadian and U.S. dealers (Nikon and Bushnell for example). This means that the warranty that comes with your scope purchased in the U.S. is no good here. You have to send it back the B&H for warranty work.

Even with conversion they're usually cheaper on stuff.
I've ordered trail cameras from there and it was a smooth deal no hidden fees or anything.

Yes, I’ve boughten possibly $10G worth from them over the last 10 years.
Never had a bad experience except resently they’ve switched from Purolator to UPS for shipping and I have since been too annoyed by that change that they have lost some of my business. I hate UPS as it’s always a hassle to deal with duties with them and they totally rip off Canadians in these cross border shipments. Purolator was flawless, stuff showed up on my desk with no questions asked. I always selected B&H customs and duties option and it was flawless before. Now I end up playing phone tag with UPS because they want payment or approval for B&H to pay for the duties that I already paid B&H for!😡 Like Duh!
I complained lots to them about there change. It’s been a while now since I’ve ordered anything, maybe they’ve fixed the problem.
If McBains has it at the right price I’d try them.

Try Bob at McBains. I have bought from them and they are Cheaper than buying from the states, at least on top end gear like Swarovski and Leica.

x2
I have made one purchase (Swaro optic) from Bob @ McBains.
IMHO, communication, pricing, and delivery were all VERY good.
I hope to make more purchases from them.

Good Luck, YMMV.

Qwert

I agree, they are at least worth price checking through Bob. Exchange is 33%, plus another 2% if you use a Canadian Dollar Visa, plus still pay 5% GST, plus $25 Customs Handling fee, plus about $75 in shipping, so a 1000 U.S. item ends up costing $1,500 Canadian.

BH Photo price for Leica Ultravid 10x42 HD 1299.95 U.S. McBain's price $1175 Canadian. Lowest U.S. price I could find $945, which is $1345 Cdn even with free shipping.

Pentax KS2 DSLR Camera with 18-55mmWR Lens and Accessory Kit 649 U.S. I bought from McBains price $675 Cdn.

You guys that are finding the better deals south of the border, given today's exchange, please provide an example of what you are buying. For the life of me I can't find those deals.

Talked to McBain and they don’t carry the product I’m looking at.

Sorry, you are correct, that is the Trinovid HD pricing. The Ultravid HD Plus is nearly $1,400 more CDN. I did miss a great deal just last week out of the Netherlands on a brand new old stock 10x42 Ultravid HD, no plus for $1,500 Cdn plus shipping. Still kicking my ass I didn't jump on that the second I saw it.

Have also bought 10's of thousands worth of camera gear at B&H over the last 10-15 years, never any issues.

Their new (well fairly new) shipping system is a one price to your door kind of a thing. Most things are shipped free (over $100) and duty free. They charge the 5% tax up front. Anything you order just gets delivered to you door with no extra fees.

Have made few a orders the last few months and nothing but positive to say about B&H.
