Default New to these parts, thought I'd say hello

I've been a member of AO for a couple years, but only now have I relocated to Calgary. Active member back East on the main forums, for trout and warm water species. I crave small cold water tribs and tossing small flies or panther martins.

In the past few years I've been getting more hunting experience too, though with a crossbow back East. Hard to beat sitting in a tree, but I prefer stalking or active hunts. I'm looking forward to the fall for sure. Good shot with a rifle, but I want to get more experience now through the fall for deer, moose, or maybe elk.. Got a .22 cooey winchester 600 coming and it'll be interesting to check out. It means something, so hopefully it shoots true too!

That's all, have at er

Smile Welcome

The streams in the foothills to the NW of where you are are excellent trout streams. A dry caddis or if you know how to fish nymphs you can use large ones. I use elk hair for the caddis and hopper patterns, they always float.

The Bow river is IMO the greatest trout stream in Canada (I've never fished in Labrador). The rainbow are awesome.

If you tie your own there are people here who's work rivals the real thing.

The bird hunting in the fall is like nothing you have ever seen!

In the spring after the ducks come back is a good time to start having a look around, east of Calgary.

Do you have a dog? If so Pheasant hunting is great.

Have fun and be safe.

Thanks for the warm welcome and words of wisdom.

I've never been birding, but I'm interested in learning more about it. No dog right now, but I'll likely focus on big game this fall. So likely just some small game and targets to fine tune my skills for now.

Been hard water fishing here for a couple months now, and I can't wait for Spring. Haha... Nah, I just like fishing... Doesn't matter the style, I still catch them all
