Default **Wanted** ? Light duty part time farm hand Langdon area?

Might be premature on my part but I had ultrasound on my one ankle last week to find one ligament is severed, several are torn and the rest are thickened and swollen from trying to compensate for the other damage.
Cant get in to the family Dr. again till end of month (unless a cancellation) to see what treatment, surgery, rest etc they are going to use but it stands to reason there will be a time this winter/spring when I cannot keep up to regular chores or planting birds for shoots around here. I am wearing braces to avoid reinjuring it anymore (if that is possible) but the more I use it the more sore and swollen it gets so I think her first recommendation will be to stay off it for awhile.

Just gauging interest to see if any "retired" folks in area would be interested in earning a bit of money. It is not hard work and you wont get rich by any means but you will get lots of bird and dog handling practice and a bit of cash/birds for your time.

Primary duties will be carrying 5 gallon pails of feed to feeders in several pens a couple times a week as well as catching and planting birds for dog training clients. Training and equipment provided for right person.

Rob

Been river dancing again I see it can be hell on an old guy you know.

Sorry to here about the ankle. Ligament damage is more painful than a fracture. I've hobbled down that trail a couple times.

The problem is the meds say take it easy and rest, but we both know how well that goes.

Hope you heal well and quickly.

If i was closer, I'd help come by and help you rest.

Default had bad ankles all my life

Sure some of the "old" as in not fresh stuff is from old baseball, hockey, volleyball etc where I "rolled" an ankle.
they said the thickening was a sign of repeated injury. new one was my own dang fault as a storm was coming in almost a year ago and I was low on hay so went to the neighbor looking for a few bales to hold me over. he was busy so told me to help myself so I backed up 4 X 4 as close as I could get with deep snow and untied tarp at end to access bales. Bales were well inside tarp so walked in in dark and grabbed bale and backed out from under tarp until I got enough light to turn around and throw in truck.
On last bale in backing out my foot wedged under a stake holding another guide rope to the top of stack tarp.
With foot wedged under stake I tripped and fell backwards over rope with 60 pound bale on top of my chest. Over extended ankle which I couldn't move due to being wedged until I felt and heard something "pop". that would have been severed ligament that is "supposed" to wrap over top of ankle.
Was sore for maybe a week and then seemed OK. Elk hunting in October and November it would be stiff until I got warmed up and sore when I stopped at end of day but when warm climbing during day it was feeling alright. 6 weeks since we quit hunting and it has not let off much since end of November so often is painful just standing but he "funny farm" must go on!

Girl who did ultrasound asked radiologist who was looking at 82 pictures taken during her exam how one person could sustain that much damage and stil be walking. Radiologist said to her that "some people" wont let pain or discomfort hold them back from doing what they want to do.
I tend to agree with him especially the really stupid ones! Since it was not constant pain I had no idea I was doing more damage to it.

Smile If you can't get an "old guy"

I'd put an ad on the bulletin board in the rink at Chestermere, once those midgets start driving, money will get their attention.

I just moved or I'd help.

Default thanks all

Many responses, I appreciate as I was trying to gauge interest just in case it is needed.
I hope to know more after meeting Dr on 29th but even then she may refer to a specialist which could take months to get in.
I cant see the severed ligament healing itself so I am anticipating surgery and a recuperation period but if it is delayed into summer feeding anm water is mechanised so will be a non issue, winter in snow banks by hand on a wonky ankle is tough . My son is home most weekends from school so if required it would likely be during week days for filling feeders, catching birds and planting for hunters/dog trainers.
Reeves you just have to think a little bigger than huns, should have lots of chukar eggs this spring!
thanks again
Rob

Gotta be a justification for a pot prescription in there somewhere.

Default Hey Oko

Had glaucoma for years so asked Ophthamologist about medical as a joke as he is very straight laced Chinese guy.
he said some studies show pot smoking can cause drop in eye pressure for 45 minutes but the drops I have prescribed for you do the same thing for 12 hours. He asked if I would want to smoke a joint every 45 minutes or take the drops once a day. My wife has a friend with fibramyalgia that has the med stuff, don't let me go there!!
Dah I guess if I wasn't going to do anything for the rest of my life the pot would be an option.
