I am not sure what other brands of press fittings there are Pro Press is Viega. Also the tool is not only pricey but the large one is dam heavy too
A friend borrowed the press tool from me and used the copper gas fittings worked well. It saves time on install but costly. They also have mega press now schedule 40 press fittings (gas and hot water heating systems). No valves for this system yet thou.

Don't the pro press fittings seal with an o-ring the same as shark bite?

Yes that's why i had said it was ironic. They make the piping rigid thou. Shark bites will swivel and turn after install.
