Default NDN/Bigbore

Knowing your penchant for huge monster big bore rifles, I thought of you each time I thought of the 105 recoilless rifle !
Now remember, there is NO RECOIL !
However, there is a back blast that'll melt freezing pavement !

Keep your ears covered and your mouth open !

So, when you know that damned Goat is in a valley several miles away, why not just bring it down to a place where you can walk up the road & smoke it ?

Back blast would have taken care of the Magpies (and all of your back yard) as well as that hawg of a Deer six+ miles away

Reeves, the backblast would have taken out the treadmill and highchair I used for my benchrest!

Are the pics of stuff you used to do? Looks like fun, and it looks like a job I'd get FIRED from in short order........waaayyyyyy too much potential for mischief!

What a gun! That could finish off the herd of elk on the top of the mountain.

But still no meat it sucks either way but still to much fun for a guy like me. I could do alot of damage with that thing? Well it is probably out of my price range.

Tree - they are Jasper Park Wardens. I was HWYs. Great bunch of guys, often wonder what happened to them......other than turning into grey haired folk from having to deal with being a Gov. employee

Well....you said it was likely a "plinker". It is, sort of !
Rounds used are from WWII though. Wonder if they kept the powder dry

Just think how much work you could save yourself. No more working out to have the ability to chase sheep. Just lob a round up 6-8 miles & bring em down to the road ! (already tenderized )

And another thing, you can make lamps out of the spent rounds ! I have several of them ! (lamps)

Messy ?
Heck, you can clean it in warm water & soap.
Not to mention bore butter smells great ! (ok, that doesn't sound good )

Wish I still had some real black powder. The .45 was SO fun to shoot, then wait, wait, wait, for the air to clear so you can see where you were shooting !

Just had a thought, and I'm sure Tree may have thought about it: he's that kind of guy
I have a bunch of pipe used for gas lines. Some 4" (actually 4&1/2" OD) some 3" (actually 3&1/2" OD) and some other fab pipe. I may have to look into a morter(sp?) of some kind ........?

Tree, next time up this way bring some fertilizer: I have the diesel !

Reeves,

Them wardens still like using explosives!
A few years ago when they were 'naturalizing' the landscape by blowing up the remnants of the old bridge over Tangle, they showered your old equipment shed with chunks of concrete and put a few holes through the roof.

Any time we have a rock overhanging our loading area, they trip all over themselves to get out and blast it down.

Your photos are from the winter or '82 or 83?

Thumper, you brought a huge smile to my face ! Forgot about how "those lads" love to blow stuff up

They find anymore stuff from WW2 "practice" to blow up ?

I'd have to look up when the pictures were taken, providing I wrote it down !

You may remember when those guys were there ?

How's the winter ice in your area ? With this early deep cold all the water fall ice likely formed well ?

Just got home from a Jasper return trip an hour ago!

Was dropping off some Christmas cheer for the Mile 45 boys & girls, and non-alchoholic goodies for Terry and Marie Damm at the X-ing station.

It's winter up there and the ice climbers are already all over it. Weeping Wall looks good, as well as Pat Sheehan's last route off Beauty Flats.

Also some noodle swathed in parkas on a bicycle, pedalling down the parkway in the middle of the snow/ice covered southbound lane. making good time too, was near Jonas when I was heading north, and within reach of the Rampart hostel -in the dark- when I was heading south.

Glad I was tucked in my '08 suburban 4x4!
