Why in the hell would he stick up for people who's activity destroys the land?

No thanks.

I refuse to fill out surveys for anonymous "groups".

Clyde,
You were asked before in another thread you started.
And never provided an answer.

Who is this group?

A google search showed no mention of this group other than your threads.

Do you eat, clothe yourself, live in a house, etc.? Any consumable good destroys far more territory than OHVs. They have you fooled.

I'm glad they kicked out the OHVs out of Castle. If you want to ride buy your own land and destroy it.

Given that you are from Airdrie, have you ever been to Castle?

I have been to Castle and other area's that allow OHVs and have seen the destruction they leave behind. And what does living in Airdrie have to do with anything.

There are many people from other corners of the province who are keen to weigh in, but have never been.

What types of destruction have you seen?

The Castle IS my land. It's PUBLIC land.

I don't want to destroy it, but I do want to ride my OHV on it responsibly.

He must have been riding around on his OHV any time I'm in the area I've only ever seen 2-3 other users.

I am sure that a survey done on a site called "surveymonkey" is going to have a ton of validity.

Exactly.

What is ironic is that if the people complaining of all the damage would get off of their OHV and go for a hike, in less than one minute of hiking they would not even know there was a trail.

Thanks Clyde,

Note, "Alliance", not "Association". That makes all the difference in a google search.

That may be true, but not everyone rides responsibly. People think "It's my right and I'll do what ever I want" and ruin it for everyone else.

Not "may" be, it IS true.

Your line of reasoning is a very dangerous one. By your logic every gun crime or act of poaching is justification to ban guns or hunting.

That is not what I mean, but just like hunting their are people that follow the rules and their are ones that say "who cares it's private property I'll hunt anyway" and wonder why a lot of land owners say no. This is going to be nothing but a ****ing match.

Sorry. I don't see your point or the distinction.

Regardless of the example, those who ignore the rules or feel they don't apply to them should be dealt with accordingly, and not at the expense of those who follow the rules.

Sadly they have a LOT of people fooled.

Quads are all evil, quadders are all idiots bla bla bla..

Some people go on like quadders are killing puppy's and tearing up graveyards.

There are idiots and irresponsible users in almost every sport, hobby and outdoor activity. Banning any one group is simplistic and just dosent work, but it makes the "BAN IT" group feel good though.

Bird watchers don't like hikers, hikers don't like runners, runners don't like horseback, horeseback don't like mountain bikes, mountain bikes don't like dirtbike's, dirt bikes don't like quadders, quadders don't like side by sides, side by sides don't like jeeps, jeeps don't like full sized rigs. That's a lot of hate considering we all just wanna enjoy the outdoors in our own way. Alot of people think their activity of choice is the only one that matters and everyone else's should just be banned.

Some people need to get off their high horse and learn how to share and work together to figure out how to deal with the few that wreck it for all of us.

For responsible OHV owners, this is a good place to start..

Actually the crown owns the land. The crown allows us to use the land. It's a privilege. When people abuse privileges then they taketh away. Get it yet????

What about the responsible people? Why should they have to suffer? It appears that you are one that doesn't get it. Take any other activity. All have a measure of regulation and enforcement.

Can you give one good reason why OHVs could not have regulation AND enforcement?

As I have said in past threads. I'm all for designated trails to ride on. They need to be maintained and proper creek crossings put in place.... But then there's the problem with enforcement. It's challenging to enforce rules in the backcountry. When someone is convicted the punishment is not enough to deter re offenders. Example I have seen so many quadders using atv for hunting prior to noon. The fine fe this is marginal so many feel it's worth the risk. I would support the cause more if the punishments where raised to higher fines and confiscation of OHVs from offenders. Last fall I got to watch 4 dirt bikers take turns ripping up a grassy mountain where there is no trail. I had no way of knowing who they are or else I would have reported them. But even if they were caught what sort of punishment would they have received?
