Default First season success!

Headed out toward Cynthia this morning for my very first hunting trip, hoping to bag a whitetail buck as my first kill. My friend and I took a quick tour of the area at about 8:15 am and quickly focused our attention on what appeared to be a prime feeding ground for moose and deer. We surveyed and explored the landscape a bit more thoroughly, and noticed quite a bit of activity in the tree lines. This activity died down quickly though, and we thought we'd better wait out our quarry. As we circled back towards a better vantage point, a decent size buck bolted out of the bushes about 40 yards in front of us. The clearing he entered was narrow, and he was making a break for the willow bushes on the other side. I tracked him for about 20 yards to make sure I could hit him cleanly. I nailed him right behind the shoulder blade, and he fell like a stone. Overall, we estimated he's around 220-250 pounds, with a 5x4 set of antlers. I'm definitely coming back next year

Love your choice of weapon! Kicking it old school, is that 303 British or 30-06?

It's a post-war model Mosin Nagant, 7.62x54r. I'm loving it so far
