Default Who do you like to support? Who means most to you?

Let's say you came into some substantial money. No I didn't but I'm just dreamin'. After all there is $50 million up for grabs tonight and I've got my ticket!

Now let's say you wanted to support substantially either through financial means or effort some outdoor related organizations, associations, causes, etc. Could be conservation, hunter education, boys/girl scouts, RMEF, DUC, TUC, local fish/game clubs, nations, internations, etc. Anything outdoors!

Who is your top 3? Or more is you care to share more... Who is the most impactful to you?

Splitting 50 mil would be easy. Four children and wife would get 50%, my church 10%, 20% for me because I'm selfish, 20% split on some other worthy charities. Outdoors related? I don't think so. Third world stuff for sure.

50 Million winner:

1. Set up my kids(not just a free ride),then Family and Close friends
2. Stollery and other care facilities such a nursing homes and long term care. Do something different than just handing over a check, filling needs to make life better.
3. Random acts of help, anything from missions to lunch programs and disadvantaged kids. That kind of thing.

I have seen the salaries of certain charitable organizations around the world and that scares me.....When I see salaries account for up to 50% of these charities...I get a little choked..

I would take my money directly to a local organization..Period!

The first thing I would do (seriously) would be to offer Redfraud 2 million dollars to step down immediately. I can think of no other place that would help all Albertans the most.

I'd take 10 mil and set up a private giving foundation that would benefit the stollery, and our natural resources/ sustainable enviornment. I would also stipulate thete were to be grants paid for education purposes for underprivileged kids/adults in need.

The rest of the 40 mil I would manage while i still worked.

I wouldnt give a dime to anyone who hasn't earned it, proven themselves worthy, or has done nothing to benefit society.

I could see that being a fun day at work. Bring in a big ring and have everyone take turns in the ring to duke it out. Better yet would have two rings. One for women filled with mud or even better jello. The other ring for men, but have it like the Thunderdome full of weapons.

Yes it would start with a whole lot of "no way" or "I'm not fighting to get my mortgage paid off"
That would morph into ...... "What if I win"
lol imagine the matchups you could create. Company wise guy vs quiet guy with good stick. Drunk tough guy vs national bronze medalist in judo. The hilarity would be never ending.

Help out stars when it's all over, throw in some for victim services and everybody is happy

I would have to say the Children's Hospital. Four years ago I had a major surgery done and it made me realize what anyone goes through but specifically a child and how hard it was for me. I could not imagine being young and scared and not what knowing what's going on. I'm 30 I powered thru it but poor kids having to be in that situation.

There are so many worthy causes to support I couldn't narrow it down to any number of them, but the first ones that come to mind are the Children's Hospitals, STARS, HALO, and various animal shelters/rescue societies.

I will be honest I probably would not support a single charity. I would however do a few dozen decent sized RAK's (random acts of kindness).

If I had some spare millions, I would set up a non-profit (possibly charitable?) organisation that provided kids with exposure to "rural and outdoors heritage" activities.

Volunteers would teach kids on day visits about Canadian outdoors heritage: canoeing, tracking, bird watching, nature and wildlife, wilderness survival basics, etc. Pro-hunting and fishing attitudes would be encouraged and fostered. Hunting and fishing trips might be organised. Free Hunter Training and firearms license courses.

If we don't start encouraging youth we will lose them. Parents don't have time or aren't interested. There are a lot of kids out there that would love to fishing but don't have an opportunity.

That's what I would do.

I'd find it a little difficult to decide. With $50M, I'd want to give most of it away. Family would be a major consideration. Charities like the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation and Samaritan's Purse would be near the top of my list. For much of it, I'd probably use it to support projects that I became aware of, which were worth contributing to, through donations of supplies and equipment. And, like mischief, I'd enjoy just surprising people here and there.
