That's why the C-Train isn't underground downtown.

Lol what?

Yep, snows every year in the mtns. We also get rain every year in June. If you're already worried about flooding, you must be fun at parties..

Best piece of advise... Don't worry about things you can't control..

You mean that's why the new leg won't be underground... (It already goes underground.

Actually lot and lots of snow is good. Doesn’t cause flooding.

What causes flooding is when a system parks on Calgary and slams storm after storm up against the foothills. It’s a 1:100 year phenomenon.

Everything has to line up well. If it does and it’s warm enough and raining on the snow pack then the snow is a factor.

Let it snow. We can use some monster snowfalls which will come again.

I know places, never logged, like above Canmore, didn't make much difference in 2013. Downtown Calgary's water table is that of the Bow River, that rises, you have flooding.

Lived here all my life. Best as I can recall it's snowed every winter and rained every June. Doesn't mean we are in for a one in a one hundred year catastrophe though.

California will suffer a devastating earthquake and Yellowstone will have a catastrophic volcano. Doesn't mean you have to lose any sleep about it. Can't hide under the bed all the time.

I had always kept an eye on spring ice jams on the bow as a flood indicator. Then along came 2013.

There was a decent snowpack last year but cool temperatures made for a slow melt and June rains were snow at higher, cooler elevations which added to the slow melt.

To be fair we need a lot of snow and or rain down south this year, all sorts of sloughs are empty and the water table is down a lot. There was next to nothing on the prairies out hunting last week so here’s hoping for more.

We need some snow here badly, thinking our drought isn't over, just colder.

Except not live in a flood zone, but hey city hall seems cool with approving new communities on flood plains. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Small streams in lower elevations are also at alarmingly low levels. Suprised F/W didn't close them this year.

When the next flood does come, be sure to take your firearms with you, if you have to evacuate.

It will happen again and the pace seems to dictate that it is very possible within the next couple of years. The earths magnetic poles are shifting. Quite the blast of northern lights this year!

Lmao, it won’t go underground because the cost to move all the utilities in the way multiplies the project cost by ten
