Keeping oiler fans happy doesn't rank too high on my need to do list.

Don't get sucked in to the oiler thing of posting every play that happens. Flames fans aren't that insecure.
I don't need to come to this forum to get play by play updates, I'll watch or listen to the game thanks.

Do I need to? That would be a hockey forum I would imagine, that's a good place for that stuff.

This is like fishing with dynamite. Toss one stick in (flames thread no less) and all the suckers come to the surface.

Thought so. Don't take much stock of the post count as any type of indicator as to fan interest or knowledge.
80% are play by play input.

Well as an Oiler fan since McDavid showed up (long story) I was a Flames fan from 1988 - on. I lost a lot of $$$ betting on the Flames during the Oiler dynasty. I was stubborn but I loved the Flames at the time. Matter of fact, I've been to more Flames games than Oiler games
Any how, I haven't seen anything posted about IGGY I loved his induction to the NHL HOF. He is so CLASSY !!
He was on the Jason Gregor show on Thursday and it AWESOME !!

Flames fans, this is 35 minutes of pure GOLD from IGGY !!

Good game yesterday. The Oilers are jealous of our goal tending.

Monahan had a little extra step so it appears he is improving still which is good.

Mange is still so much fun to watch. He plays with such heart that Canada better select him for the Olympic team.

Wins a win though….. the Berta boys keep getting check marks in the win column. That’s what counts.

Lol

Good point.

A win is a win however and the roasting if they had lost would of been deservingly harsh. Lol.

Default FLames are second in fewest goals given up

32 goals against before today’s game. Second only to Carolina with 25.

Oilers are at 18th place with 42 against.

Flames tied for 7th in goals for at 48

Oilers first in goals for at 59.

Good Alberta hockey year!

Imagine how far ahead they would be if they could win in OT. That is five OT losses. Get those as wins, or even 3 of them, and it is first in West.

Super that they got a Bettman point again, but really? Every time I see it go to OT now I just expect them to lose. Dammit.

Johnny had a great game, an assist and lots of shots. But coughing up the puck in OT cost the game.

In all honesty I wish every game was worth 1 point only. You win in regular time, OT, or shootout, it's 1 point. If you lose, you lose, and get the big fat donut.

But I will say this, if I was a Flames fan, I would be super happy with the season thus far. 3 months ago, a lot of hockey analyst and most Flames fans wanted the entire team blown up and start a rebuild. Things look a lot different right now and Calgary is definitely built from the net out. In the NHL it is very hard to out score your mistakes night in and night out, but a good goaltender and defense can eliminate the need for that.

I am actually quite bored of watching 3 on 3 overtime, it does settle alot of games before the shoot out. When it was first introduced it was pretty fast paced, turnovers and action going both ways. It has now turned into puck possession keep away, and wait for the opportunity. If it goes for any length of time, it is usually skate around pass skate around, pass back to the goalie, make a line change repeat.

I think the NHL needs to implement an over and back rule in OT, so that once you cross the redline you can't go back past it. If they could figure out a way to make it a live puck after this happens even better. Sort of like lacrosse the ref blows the whistle you have to leave the puck where it is and the other team grabs it and away they go.

Even if the rule was implemented, once you entered the offensive zone you can't regroup past the red line. Would make the puck possession/keep away you see now a lot harder to maintain.

Last season Montreal made the playoffs thanks to the loser point. The Habs had the 5th most wins in the North conference but they had a whack of loser points. They got the last playoff spot and made it to the Stanley Cup final.

I wish the NHL would get rid of the loser point.
There was a study from a couple of years ago that showed that if a game was tied late in the 3rd, teams changed their style of play. Less scoring chances were generated as both teams played to get at least one point.

I'd like to see a system where each game is worth 3 points, no matter the outcome.
If you win in regulation you get 3 points.
If you win in OT or a shootout, the winner gets 2 and the loser gets one.

As much as I am happy we get the point, I am equally worried as we always lose the second point. Them points will be much needed down the road.
