Wife's first antelope
Been back from the prairie for a few days now after a great week of hunting with my wife for her first antelope. Seen several nice bucks down in 118/102 area and had some close chances with some of the better ones but kneeling down in a cactus patch prevented any shot that time. The wife doesn't deal well with shooting pain in the kneecap that well.lol. Spent a few days just sitting and watching an area we've come to know as a busy travel corridor. Had some close encounters but just not the right buck. With time running out and my wife's patience with me leading her all over the prairie (that's how she put it anyhow) running thin, we found a small herd resting in the sun on Thursday afternoon, set up and watched them and wouldn't you know it, they headed through the coulee our way. A quick little stalk put us in range with the herd unaware and she shot the biggest buck in the herd. Nothing huge but an alright animal, 13-1/4" horns on both sides with a little twist to them to make them different. Had a good hunt, seen some good animals to dream about and had a good week off hunting with the wife. That's what its all about.

Truly a fantastic antelope! We still want to hear the story about Dave the porcupine since the story was interrupted. I will be calling you around Christmas... -JH
