Default Shooting Gloves

Looking for glove(s) for use with revolver to act as barrier against lead/powder residue. Preference is for very thin, fitted, soft leather, with no vent holes. I have eliminated styles stocked by WSS, Cabellas Edm, Marks, Sport Check (driving, baseball, football). At one time I had driving gloves but they are now lost. Any suggestions for Edmonton retailers?

Deerskin ropers from Costco. Might have to wait till spring if they're still stocking insulated ones. Marks Work Wearhouse probably has em to, and you won't have to buy a pallet of them.
Worried about airport security after a range trip?

I normally use golf gloves on the range but when hunting I use deerskin ropers with the index finger cut at the first knuckle
The golf gloves worked fine with my 628-8 in 45

When it cools off for upland hunting I use leather cycling gloves. No finger tips..Cheap, comfortable, and every Canadian Tire stores got them! Should work for you.

I rarely shoot revolvers as I do not own any. They being said when I do I like lifting gloves. Leather, no fingertips, light padding on the palm, and a little bit of rist support.

The pair I have: http://www.fitnessdepot.ca/C11FCA690...s20082bs.html#

For a nice all leather glove I gave some deer hides to the local hutterite colony one year and in return they made me 2 pairs of custom fit deerskin gloves. Best gloves I have ever owned.

There's a safety store around the corner from Princess Auto in the west end that I bought gloves from for the exact same reason, can't remember where I put them though!

No reusable leather glove will give the protection you want, the leather will absorb the lead/power residue and then you will be handling the gloves putting them on, taking them off. A pair of golf or curling gloves cut off works. Or a pair of PAST padded gloves for the heavy kickers.

Good point. Maybe I will rethink and get a pair with the vent holes (lots of them to choose from) ... and wear a surgical glove over top ... Or just the surgical glove. Damn, I got a revolver so I'd look like a cowboy. How's it going to look with a surgical glove on my right hand?

AHHH! The real gunslinger will have the trigger finger cut off at the first knuckle for better feel. I'd recommend avoiding a proctologist with a cut glove

You get as much residues in your face and hair as on your hands.

If you care that much about residues, you should consider a HAZMAT suit.

I use shooting gloves not for residue but for grip and to keep bug dope and sweat off my guns.
As far as residue goes I make sure I wash well after shooting or reloading .

Here's a towel I placed under the barrel-action ... showing some of the residue ...of course to each their own, but for myself ... I'll start with gloves.

Guess to each their own practice of shooting

I really don't care about residues since I've stop thumb sucking a few month ago.

If I don't get burn marks on my cheeks and dirty hands for a couple days, I feel like I have been lazy with my shooting session - I shoot mostly pistols.

On a more serious note, you should try those Dakota electrician gloves, from mark's work wearhouse. Was planning to use them for winter shooting but they are not heat insulated, I stop using them as they did not prevent cold bite at all.
Palm and fingertips are covered with an flexible, non breathable rubber layer. The other parts are lycra or something similar.

They have a good grip, and are quite thin and comfy. Might suit your need, they are not expensive too (around $20).

Thanks for the ideas, some good options. If I were still 25 and invincible, I likely wouldn't give hand protection a second thought, but after seeing how much blows out the side of that cylinder while zeroing from a rest I figure there is no point to topping up my lead levels.

I don't care very much about gloves, but I shoot with a dust mask every time I shoot lead cast bullets.

I have used these for years now. They run for around $8 a pair or so. You can buy them at Hazmasters safety supply. They have enough dexterity in them that I can thread in a #8 screw with them. They also have an insulated version for the colder days. They are also cut resistant too.
