Default 3rd party prepped cases

Just got some .270 cases from a fellow who'd done all the prep. 1st time I done that, usu do it all myself but the price was right. checked them & they look GTG.

OK to use these right off to start working up loads, or would you just fireform this first go-round?

See if you can close your bolt with an empty case in your rifle, buddy may have just neck sized.

If the fellow has FL sized and seemingly done all else properly, you should be GTG. I'd check case o/all length, chamber an empty case with a bullet seated to your desired depth and a quick visual inspection.

As well I would check the inside of the cases to see if there is a ring forming which will lead to head separation .

I would rather pick up brass at the range than use brass prepped by someone else.
IMHO your chances of getting !F are better,
and the residue in the pocket may indicate 1F,
and I can be confident it has not just been FL sized (too small) in a die adjusted as per manufacturer's instructions.

As suggested, inspect the case head to wall junction (with a dental pick or sharp bent paperclip) feeling for a radial groove inside the case.

My first firing of any new to me brass is with a lead boolit seated hard into the lands to fire-form for MY individual chamber.

Good Luck, YMMV.
