Default Bolt Action Custom Stock, trigger problem

I'm trying to put a custom stock on a bolt action, and having a trigger problem. The firing pin disengages when I close the bolt, gun won't fire. If I push the bolt closed, it'll actually snap closed. Do I simply file the trigger opening in the stock larger? I tried some, but nothing changed, hate to overdo it and screw something up.

Advice?

It sounds like something binds as it is being put down into the stock and trips the trigger, but without actually seeing it in person it is hard to determine.
I recently installed triggers on three different rifles and had similar issues with a slightly different fix for each one.

sounds as though you have a poor or perhaps no bedding. loosen the action screws, and see if your trigger will function normally.
i've had 2 guns with poor bedding jobs where when the gun went for the work trigger function was fine, when it came back it wouldn't hold sear engagement. ended up putting shims under the front action screw until the stress came off the action, and everything worked fine, lee

I'd check the clearance where the trigger sear is closest to the stock, usually at the back of the trigger guard. Maybe a bolt or stock are contacting?

Sounds like your bending the action as you tighten the screws.. like was mentioned above. Loosen the screws and try it again.

What do you mean a "custom stock "? Is it simply an aftermarket stock or is it a stock that has been built for your particular barrel and action ?

Put some lipstick on the trigger and housing and carefully set in in the stock to see if and where it may be touching . May actually be touching the trigger guard ?

Make sure you use lipstick that will make your eyes pop haha.

Don't use your girlfriend or wife's lipstick as apparently some of it is expensive . Go buy some cheap stuff at the drugstore , keeps the cosmetic girls guessing .

Is an aftermarket stock, archangel on a remington bolt. Everything worked until I tightened the screws. Filing wasn't enough, I took the Dremel to it and removed a bunch of plastic. Working good now.

Except now the clip is causing me grief. There is major space in the clip. I was trying to shoot a coyote after I got it all together, and it wouldn't feed nicely. Couple of pulls no cartridge came in, once after pushing the non feeding cartridge with my thumb it moved too far back and the lip of the cartridge hooked on the edge of the clip. Poor coyote, I put a hit on it with the first shot and couldn't put her down.

Any pointers on the clip? To make it feed better?

Sounds like magazine /magazine housing /trigger guard need to be seated a little deeper ,so bolt will pick up round .
