Default SABA spring gopher shoot NOT AT CLEMITSON RANCH THIS YEAR!

Date and time has been finalized.
Will be held at my place place again this year (Clemitson Ranch) on Sunday June 17th at 9am.

Bring baggies and pliers to keep track of your numbers. Winner's will receive some random beef from my freezer.
I know this is a long way for some people to come so I will allow overnight camping at the haystacks but no fires unless it's in something I approve!
Road allowance trail to the haystack/starting area is in good condition but does have big ruts so be careful if you're in a car.

Gophers are looking great this year! lots left from last year with an excellent crop of pups, I've been guarding these gophers from being shot with rifles and they are currently being dumbed down by grazing cattle so there should be lots of easy shots for the traditional guys like me!
Also be prepared to shoot any badger you see, usually at least one gets shot every year on this day!

Do you need to be a SABA member to enter the Gopher shoot?

Weather looking ok so far for Sunday, latest forecast is mostly sunny and 20 degrees chance of showers.

Bring a can of something for a donation to the lethbridge food bank as your entrance fee.

I'm putting together some prizes and so far it will be...

Best trad archer gets some steak
1st place gets a big beef roast.
2nd place gets a couple pounds of beef sausage from back country butchers.
3rd gets a couple of beers and told to do better next time and not be such a disappointment to his family.

BYOB, law chairs and lunch if you intend on more shooting in the afternoon.

Weather turned out to be cool and windy as hell. We went for it anyway but it was nearly impossible to hit such a small target with a wind like that!

The first groups going out.

Kids practicing

Happy couple with a bag full of tails.

Group photo.

Storm rolling by to the south.

Cows waiting to get back into their pasture.

The winners (tie) both had 19 tails which was pretty good considering the conditions! The winner 2 years ago had over 60.

I need to submit the winners names to Saba, and of course I forgot to write down some last names!
The winners were Daniel Hymus and Kery ?
If you are Kery or know what his full name is let me know
Thanks.

I just talked to Dennis at Lane Archery this morning and the SABA gopher shoot has been moved to June 1st. My land will be unavailable at this time since my branding is the day before and I'll be turning the cows and calves out into the pasture. I'm sure a new location will be found quickly.

Maybe I should have made a new thread to avoid confusion! If you look at my new post in this thread it will no longer be held on my land and will possibly be closer to lethbridge this year.

Default Gopher Shoot June 1st?

Any news? Is this happening Saturday? The kids and I had a great time last year. Really looking forward to it again.
