Default HD Commercials

You mean we get to watch 20 minutes of commercials for each 30 minutes of program in H.D?

What problems are you having? I have had Starchoice, Bell, Shaw and now Telus...the worst by far was Shaw, followed closely by Starchoice. Bell and Telus I like and haven't had any issues.

LOL...sometimes it sems that way doesn't it but the CRTC sets the maximum at 6 minutes per half hour. Be thankful you don't live in the U.S., they are permitted 8 minutes. There's always PBS if you really hate commercials

If I never have to watch SD television again I'll be thrilled.

Default Sure seems like more

TJ, it sure does seem like more than 6 minutes per half hour....the only good show I have seen on PBS is Alone in the Wilderness....now I have the DVD no more interuptions when watching it.

That's interesting, Sheep, and I'm sure it must be true or you wouldn't have said it but I watched "Love of the Hunt" last Sunday and, with the exception of what seemed like 2 or 3 very brief hunting sequences which weren't even related to each other, it seemed to me that it was all adds. Maybe I'm missing something, though. Any comments?

Oh I hate that Love of the Hunt show, because it weaves in 15 minutes of yakking about the Bradley Smoker, and the other kitchen gadgets. Guess it's not a real commercial, they used use the words "Bradley Smoker" twice in every sentence.

By the way, PBS has some nice shows from time to time!

Yeah that's it exactly, Frans. Maybe, as you say, the content isn't technically all adds but it sure seems that way.

Default Some good ones

Frans is correct....I should have said Alone in the Wilderness is the best show I've seen so far on PBS...they do have some good ones other than that.

Some shows definitely get carried away with product placement in the show. Didn't see that particular show but I do know that only 6 minutes of actual commercial time are available in a 30-minute slot. Some shows do seem like more though...you are right.

Obviously the producers have to pay the bills with sponsors, some just do it better than others. The hard sell tactic of most shows turn the viewer off especially when the flash and dash editing style is used to hide the fact they have zero footage. A soft sell is way more effective in my opinion, if someone tells me to buy something or "You should to" is said, I will make a point of it not to buy it out of spite!

Default Best of the West re-runs on Wildtv

I think all of us would agree that WILDTV is the best thing that has happened to the hunting and fishing crowd, but what is with all the re-runs of "Best of the West"? It was my fav, When does the the new series start?

Three letters "PVR"
I just switched to Telus and it was purely for the fact that Shaw dosn't have WILD TV
Hooked up the PVR , set up the total weeks recording on WILD , watch the shows when I can and skip right thru all the commercials.
OH ya baby , Livin the good life !!!

When I had Sasktel Max cable service they had both SD and HD Wild TV. Can't remember the channel number though. Strange thing is that the sd and hd had slightly differant programing, never one program on both at the same time.
