Default 6mm ARC

So I see Hornady has come out with a new calibre. Was looking at the Howa website and noticed. Is there validity in the new calibre or is it new marketing to sell more firearms.
I’m not interested in it, but thought I’d share this new cartridge.

Looks like another round designed for those nasty AR platforms…errr, modern sporting rifles. Might be ok in a bolt gun.

Actually it's not really ok in a bolt rifle...bastard rim size of .441" means most actions won't work easily, and who really wants a slow 6mm bullet out of a bolt action rifle? Kind of a Grendel thing.

It’s amazing what short cartridges can do with a little powder. Take a .308 and compare the powder it uses to a .300 win. It’s like 75% more powder for 15% more velocity?

I really like the concept. But there aren’t bolt actions for them so I’ll stick with something faster. Once the gun ban gets sorted out. I’d definitely consider one in a repeater.

Marketing. There is really very little that has not been done. You can find essentially any velocity/ballistic/cartridge length desire within the bounds of what has already been done.

These are not short fat cases

The arc is made for a ar15
If you have one of those, it’s a good option

If you have an ar10 there is far better choices

Bolt actions, this isn’t even close

Looking at Hornady's bolt gun load data it's impressive what that little case can do.

I think if you wanted a compact, low recoiling multi purpose rifle for range work, coyotes, and the occasional deer it would be useful. Deer legal and ability to push heavier bullets than .22 cals.

At present there are four rifles in my gun vault that are in 6mm- two in 6mmBR and two in 244RemAI
I have spent some time doing extensive research , load development, and shooting sessions with both cartridges, not because I thought either as the best , just because I wanted to.
Personally speaking I see no need to go anywhere else in a 6mm cartridge , but if I do it will simply be to build a different 6mm, not to build a better mouse trap.
However, I'd I wanted a "good" 6mm for hunting I would more than likely choose the 244/RemAI or the 6/284 .
Fir match shooting it would be the 6mmBR .

Exactly
The 6 arc brings nothing to the table unless your using an ar platform

A Howa mini-action in 6 ARC would make a dandy little truck gun and deer rifle.
