A little help?
I want to sight in my new 22-250 at 50 yards so it is point blank at 100 yards. This rifle is to discourage coyotes from thinking that my new puppy is lunch.

Depending on how high your scope sits above bore axis, if you sight in zero at 25 yards, you should be fairly close to zero at 100. That's a quick and easy way to get close to that hundred yard zero you are after. I've done it with a few different cartridges, and while there have been some variances, nothing too dramatic and easy to finish your zero at 100 yards with a couple clicks.

Thank you
Thanks what I love about this site. Timely useful answers to simple questions.
Google has given me formulas that are more difficult that 1st. year calculus.
If the coyote comes back, I'll be ready.
Thx again

If you want to discourage him forever, I am not far away, give him a little call in with my foxpro and whoomp.

1/2 inch low at 50 will be 0 at 100 and 2 inch low at 200
That is with 55gr Vmax according to Federal ballistic calculator

Be sure to test your rifle at the ranges you figure you will be shooting. Every rifle/load is different a lot of factors come into play, scope height as mentioned, bullet speed etc. But if you test the rifle at your chosen ranges, none of that stuff matters for your purposes.

Trades I would interested in:
- Sightron rifle scopes, 4.5x14x42mm or 4x16x42mm
especially! with the HHR reticle. (no duplex pls.)
- older 6x fixed scopes with fine X or target dot.

I would sight in dead on at 50 yards, and then test the point of impact at 100yards when you get the opportunity. If you can shoot at coyotes at 100 yards, you can shoot targets at 100 yards.

I may suggest if you are dead on at 50 or 100 you won’t miss a coyote at either distance regardless of which distance the zero is .

This/\/\/\/\. I zero my 22-250 @ 40/250 yds. So its bang on at 40( near zero) and 250yds( actual zero) this gives me a +- 2.5" all the way out to 310 yds my 350 yd drop is 5.5" pretty simple math/ hold overs for killing dogs

Spot on. No need to make it more complicated than it needs to be. Not trying to shoot the eye out of a squirrel at 100 yards. Minute of Yote is just fine.

Divide your scope height by 2. If you're zeroed at 100 yds that's how high to aim at 50 yds. Works for gophers, gotta work for coyotes.
