I just bought a new truck and it came with Apple CarPlay. I have searched google but couldn't really find an answer to my question.
I have had the truck for a month and then CarPlay stopped working. The radio needed an update which has to be done at the dealership, I can't do it myself. This is not limited to any one manufacturer as the service guy that I dealt with said it's the same at the Lexus dealership he used to work at. But how long can I expect to go before I have another mandatory update where one of the best features of the radio system doesn't work again? Does anyone have a workaround so that I can update it myself that the dealerships don't want to tell you about?
My guess is a few more, I had to take my GMC to get the radio re programed at Schwab gm in Leduc 5 minute job billed me the full hour. Crooks but get used to it.
I've only had the truck a month and stuff like this is covered under their warranty so I won't have to pay for a few years. It's just aggravating that they release an update and it disables it. Say there is an update and recommend going to see your dealer for it but don't make it inoperable in the mean time.
How long have you had your truck and how many updates have they done?
