Default Rod repair?

Hey all,

I just broke off the tip of my baitcasting rod. From my research, I can buy a new tip and glue it to where my rod broke off.

Two queations:

1. Since I have a micro guide baitcasting rod, would any generic repair kit work or do I have to get a special one?

2. Where can I buy these repair kits in Calgary? After wholesale sports closed, I've been going to Canadian tire but it seems like they don't have any.

Thanks for any advice!

I took mine to the fishing hole and it was less than 10 bucks for them to do it there. Might have even been less than 5. Guess depends on the guide you need.

I got a box of various tip tops off of amazon for $30. I got 80 tip tops in a box. I needed to repair like 5 ice rods that had the inserts knocked out of the tip top so it worked out. It’s a good option.

I also took mine to the Fishin Hole last time that hapened. I think it was under $5 or so, either way, pretty cheap if you just need the one repaired.

I broke my Loomis last year and took it to Stikfix in Calgary they repaired it good as new. Mine broke about 1ft below the end so it was not something a simple eyelet repair kit would help.

Broke 3 tips over the years. One I fixed myself still using rod all the time (over 25 yrs. old) Two at the Fishing Hole. Good work, great service and awesome knowledge. Believe each one around $10 to fix. In and out in about 10 min. Although should have waited out side cause it cost me at least $75 more for lures I'm sure I needed

As others have mentioned if you only need a tip replacement fishin hole is a good option. They only charge for the tip, no labour etc hence why it is around $5.

That said they probably wont have micro guides. Larger guide will look a little weird but wont really affect anything.
