Default Hardy reel repair

Had my 70's vintage Hardy Perfect reel repaired by Ray at Hook, Line and Sinker in Guelph. Fast turnaround and excellent job!

Nice!
No local folks able to fix up vintage stuff?

See you out on the water!

Sounds good.
Actually, sounds GREAT!
Although rare (for you) there is nothing sweeter than the singing of a Hardy click/pawl reel (or my personal favorite, an Islander IR).
It remains to be seen if there will ever be a fish causing it to sing.

Some of us like done right.
Duct tape doesn't fix everything.

That's a fact, however, if you recall I did run my older Minn Kota for two years with a major duct tape repair job!

And if you look closely at the canoe I gave you might find a piece of duct tape or two buried under lots of silicone sealant.

It can be done without duct tape, this Hardy St John, for example, that I refurbished with period correct, check springs, Double prawls & tuning. It can be done with some research, original parts, and no condescension from others.

Probably a bit too late to patronize at this stage, but if I had posted here about a Hardy reel needing repair would you have offered assistance, for a suitable fee of course?

Hey. At least you kind of fixed it. Some times duct tape ( Saskatchewan chrome) is the remedy.

I just carried a bail pail around for three years until replacing the old boat with a less leaky one.

Gave you more time for fishing!

Stan, can you send me a PM when most of the ice is gone on "our" lake? That'll save me exploration time and gas and reduce my carbon footprint!

That was always my excuse. No time to fix the leak when I could be fishing!

Absolutely. I'll be checking weekly over the next couple three weeks for when the lake is ice free or at least boat/canoe accesible.

I'm already getting the itch!
