Default 280AI and 180 VLDS are a contender

Well since no one had any info on the 280AI and the 180 berger VLD i thought i would post what I found.
Much to my surprise i was able to get just over 2900fps in a 27" barrel with no excess pressure! With IMR7828ssc,might be able to get a little more in than what i'm using but i'm tickled with that velocity.
Here is my best five shot group at 975 yds with a 4 mph left wind.

I only get 2930 fps from a 26" barreled 7mm REM mag. No pressure signs yet but too accurate to go on.

I have a 280ai with a 27" benchmark barrel I was shooting 168gr , but was curious about the 180 and I do have a pile of 7828ssc. Where did you start for a load in YOUR gun.

I started with 54gn stopped at 56.5 wich is no where near max in the Nosler manual and their 175 Gn bullet.
It's funny because I tried 162 amax and could not get past 2850 without getting a sticky bolt.

Good to see what guys shooting heavier bullets are doing!

I've found the Nosler 140's are great for accuracy out of my hunting rig to 500yrds( all ive shot out to) shooting a 24" Ron Smith gain twist bbl. Havent seen a need for me shooting any heavier so haven't gone there yet.
