Default Is There Such a Thing as an in-Safe Alarm?

You'd think there would be, but I don't know where to look for one.

I'm picturing a small battery-operated device, possibly with an infrared sensor, that counts to 5 or so after the door is opened and then goes off if it's not disarmed.

Anything like that on the market?

I used to have a pocket 'screamer' alarm that was activated by dislodging a small pin on a string. SUPER loud. About the size of a pager.
I had it as an alarm in my truck for awhile with just attaching the pull string to the door. I'd imagine you could put a small hook on the safe door and when it was opened past a certain point it would dislodge the pin.
There is no off switch and the battey door had a screw in it.
If you knew what to look for you could open the door a bit and unhook the (monofiliment?) line prior to ppening the door fully.
We used to wake each other up by activating and throwing in a bedroom. Only funny when it happened to others it seems.

If you were looking for an external alarm, most safes have bolt holes in the back that go through the rear wall. Could run wire for motion or light detector switch from Radio Shack or CanTire too.

There is actual add ins to your home alarm system, just a door sensor pretty much.

Set the door with a string to engage a can of bear spray aimed to where your face will normally be. If you set it off by accident once you probably won't do it again!

Home depot and Can Tire have these alarms that you can put on a door and it has a keypad with a timer built in. I think they are like 20-30 bucks and You just stick them on inside of the safe with 2 sided tape.
