The Stevens 200 in any caliber is downright hard to beat as far as bang for your buck is concerned. I have 3 of them, .223, 22-250 and 7mm-08. Easy to customize and fool with, deadly accurate. Not pretty, but they lend themselve to easy and affordable customization. I'd say don't cheap out on optics as they are very well capable to hold up to good optics.

git...

I have had em in .270, .30-06, and .308 and they all shot awesome. P&D in Edmonton has them for 369.00 while wholesale in Edm hasn't had any for a while.

By the looks of things, these little puppies seem to be getting harder to get. Popularity? restricted imports into Canada? I'm not sure, but I'd say if you have your eyes on one, get them while you can. Same goes for a Marlin lever gun.

Gitrdun is right. They aren't pretty but a couple of can's of spray paint can fix that. Here is mine. 22-250.
They are very accurate.

Cant wait to hear how it shoots man...

A 25-06 would be a good choice in that rifle....I was thinking if a guy could find a 243 or a 223 it would be a good snag.....

Default .243

I picked up a .243 2 weeks or so ago. I was out with it today for a little break-in and it handles great. I am used to shooting a 7mm and when I squeezed off the first round I laughed as there was almost no recoil at all. Funny what a guy gets used to.

I have a 270 and probably will add a 7-08 when my boy is big enough to handel a phisically bigger gun, and upgrade from the 7-08 handi.

Great guns. I love my 223, and the 270. I was planning on buying one in 25-06 this spring for my sister to hunt with but ended up making another large purchase. Both mine shoot very very well as do the others i've tried at the range. Enjoy it, hopefully theres still a few in stock later this summer when i have some money burning a hole in my pocket.

I had been thinking about a varmint gun but have to justify the price, so thought of a Stevens. From the testimonials here, sort of makes one wonder why we shell out $1000 for other guns if these are so accurate. I could have three of them for the price of my Browning alone. (insert Browning insults here LOL).

Default stevens

I have one in .243 which I camo painted, hate the tupperware stock. Go to savageshooters, you can get the steps to adjust the trigger which is easy. Or for around $100 put in a timney, or SSS. Lots of aftermarket stocks too. Best deal going, not pretty but can't say anything I shot with it cared too much...also have a 110E from '85 in
.270 which was my first rifle, and will be my boys too.
