Default Mackinaw

I got one off of eBay last year. Love to get back to what I used hunting with Dad. Don't expect to get back into one for cheap, it was still far better than ordering a new one though.

Ha this thread cracked me up, one of the things I notice most about Alberta hunting, is the amount of camo hunters riding quads and sitting in trucks.
Don't ever see a bush hunting thread either.

I still hunt in a swandri, green checker pattern, had it 30 years now, like most wool jackets, it's heavy when wet, but quiet in the bush. And warm unless very windy and hammering rain. Then it oil skin time.
camo for ducks, and bow hunting.

Hunting clothing and acessarys are big business now.

And that is exactly what I said I am revolting against. The big business that sends the message that you have to have the latest to be successful. A message that I bought into for years, as I parked my blaze orange overalls. And a few people lose their junk over that as if I was making some sort of value judgement against them personally. Oh well.

Watch the swanndri website, its great stuff. Or if you are touring around, a quick stop at Henry's on main street in Rocky usually has a good selection of plaid wool.

The Filson jackets are expensive but very good quality. I have Mackinaw cruiser and love it only issue is I find it a bit cold in the shoulders and would like to have the Double Mackinaw cruiser as it has a extra layer on the shoulders and arms. They are expensive jackets but you won't ever regret spending the money.
