Default Grouse?

I realize that it's possible to hunt grouse with archery equipment. But is it something that people really do much? Is it effective? Or is it simply just a whole lot more practical to grab the shotgun and go?

There's another thread about how well the grouse are doing. I haven't seen anything on the archery forum though.

Thanks and happy thanksgiving.

Drill two small holes in a blunt point 90 degrees apart, tread snare wire through making a three inch clover leaf. Works great, makes head shots spectacular!!

I like to try shooting grouse with my bow. I have yet to connect with one this year. I'm 0-4 this year, with 1 arrow lost and another one broken. It is much cheaper to shoot them with a shotgun, providing you already own a shotgun!

I always have a judo point in the quiver for chickens.

I missed with a small game head the other week and then used a broadhead. Not recommended unless you like very little left of the meat
Judo heads work, same with turkey heads. The pain I find is that I always see them in the trees and when you miss arrows get broken or lost.

0/1 this year so far but last year I took about 5-6 with my bow. Haven't taken any with a shotgun, find it wastes too much meat more often than not.
Also like to use the .22 but when bow hunting early season I always keep a few judos in the quiver. It's a lot of fun and really good practice!

Me too, finally came in handy this year. Harvested my first bow bird and later that day my first deer. I think getting the bird straight in the head upped my confidence enough not to hesitate this time when I had the deer in my peep at 30 yds. In the past I may have hesitated even though I know I can make that shot all day on paper.

What a rush.
